Today, 19 July 2024, is a special day for the blog. It was on this date 16 years ago that this blog had come into existence with its debut post “Miley Na Phool To Kaanton Se Dosti Kr Li” on 19 July 2008. Today 18 july 2024 is the remembrance day of Rajesh Khanna. I know (thanks to media coverage) that he passed away on this date, but it still comes as a huge surprise to me to realise that 12 years have gone by since that date. How time flies. It seems like yesterday when I was listening to Binaca geetmala final on the last wednesday of 1971, when almost every song that got played was picturised on Rajesh Khanna, including the number one song. Then I realise that 1971 was 53 years ago. More than half a century ago. The world has changed considerably from those days.

Today, the 3rd of July is the 72nd birthday of Amit Kumar Ganguly, popularly known as Amit Kumar. Amit Kumar is the son of Kishore Kumar and Ruma Ganguly. Like his father, Amit started singing from an early age and he used to sing at Durga Pooja festivals in Calcutta. At one such function arranged by Bengali actor “Mahanayak” Uttam Kumar, the audience continued requesting encores. While his mother complained that he was singing “filmy” songs, his father decided to bring him to Bombay.
