Today’s song is another Bappi Da-Kishore Kumar song which I like very much since the release of its movie. I had not watched this movie and over the years I only remember this song and one other song of this movie which is ‘naina ye barse, milne ko tarse’ which too I like very much. However I had always thought these songs as the compositions of Laxmikant-Pyarelal. It was only when I noted down the lyrics of this song for presentation that I came to know that it was a composition of Bappi Lahiri and not Laxmikant Pyarelal.

‘Ek hasrat thhi ke aanchal ka mujhe pyaar miley…Zindagi aur bataa tera iraadaa kya hai’
I have been listening to this song since my childhood and I have been liking it without any apparent reason. May be the overall composition touched me somewhere and it remain in my memory since then. Later, as I grew up and listened to this song, I liked its lyrics very much and continue to enjoy it whenever it was played around on radio or elsewhere.

Rajan, Kumud Tripathi, Amrit Pal, Narayan, R. P. Sethi, Jankidas, Bhola, Gulshan Bawra, Yograj, B.M. Vyas, B.B. Bhalla, Kirti Kumar, Rajan Kapoor and others. Centuries – pivotal events. And always welcome. Give us a quantized measure of manageable progress. Like one part of a lo..ong project accomplished. Or like completing one cycle of an endless process. Would we like to compare with the earth going around the sun? Maybe not a good idea. A century taking 365 days to complete. Or maybe compare to Victor Trumper and Don Bradman and Majid Khan – getting a century in the very first session of a test match. Ah but that maybe going too fast for this crowded bandwagon of Atulites.
