Continuing my series, I come to the 14th song – “Reshma Mera Naam Hai” sung by the ever versatile Asha Bhosle. This song is penned and composed by Ravindra Jain for the movie Toofan released in 1975.
It was directed by Kedar Kapoor for ‘Sargam Pictures (Pvt.) Ltd., Bombay’. The movie had Vikram Makandar, Priyadarshini, Roopesh Kumar, Jagdeep, B.M. Vyas, Jeevan, Jayraj, Trilok Kapoor, Sajjan, Rajan Haksar, Abhijit Sen, Rajan Kapoor, Kirti Kumar, Shetty, V. Coming into the 5th episode of the repeat song series. Here is an example of a straight and simple reuse, as is. The film is ‘Raja Kaka’ from 1973. And the famous drunkard song by Mukesh – from the 1960 film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’, has been re-used in this film, without any changes or re-recording. As we listen to this picturization, it is clearly the original song that is simply being replayed in this film.

Well, my ‘love story’ (‘Prem Kahaani’, pehle ‘affair’ likhnewaala tha, phir ‘relationship’, phir thhik karke ‘love story’ likha 🙂 ) with this blog started around 2009 and it was because of Sahir Saab’s song ‘Dil Karta O Yaara Dildaara Mera Dil Karta’ (which I was looking because it was in my memory and nostalgic for me). So, thanks are very much due to Sahir Saab and I thank him for that. (I am sure he is accepting it there 🙂 )

We have already begun yet another new year full of music and nostalgia on this blog. As we leave the past year behind us, it must have added some memories and moments to cherish for every one of us and in turn adding more memorable moments to our existing ‘nostalgia bank’.
Some may have got opportunities to travel, (I wish one should travel a lot) and meet peoples from different walks of life, enjoy the diversity of our own culture by visiting parts of the country hitherto not visited and enjoy the variety of cuisines across our great country (or may be abroad, if one gets a chance) and leave behind and gather some unforgettable memories and learnings too 🙂
Aadmi musaafir hai aata jaata hai
And that is how days and years pass by and we continue with the journey of our life still missing those beautiful days but enjoying relishing the memories (Beete Huye Lamhon Ki Kasak Saath To Hogi) and the times, which after a gap of some years become more and more nostalgic for us. And ‘nostalgia’ is yet another, or stronger, reason (for me it is) that we enjoy music, movies, and the memories associated and connected with them.

On this blog, one thing we enjoy is, celebrations. 🙂
We are always looking for an opportunity to celebrate – and every other day, we get a reason to do so. Often it is somebody’s birthday or birth anniversary, or a milestone of a 100th or 1000th song for an artiste, or for the blog. And even if it is a death anniversary, which is not really a cause for celebration, we use the occasion to pay tribute to the concerned artiste. Many of my own posts fall in this category. An occasion gives me an opportunity to reminisce and share my thoughts.
