I was looking up the list of anniversary names on google. Well, of course, I wanted to find out what the 75th anniversary is celebrated as. Now, the fact that 25th is Silver and 50th is Gold, is well known, and well established. Beyond that, going to 75th and on to 100th, I find differing opinions. Many folks would refer to 100th as the Diamond Jubilee, with no specific preference for the 75th. Then again, there are folks who want to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee at the 75th itself going to non specific things like ‘Diamond+Pearl’ Jubilee for the 100th. I am not much convinced with this sequence. Then I found one reference where the 75th anniversary is referred to as Platinum Jubilee. Now this I would think, is a better reasoning. We keep the Diamond for the 100th, and celebrate the 75th as Platinum – more expensive than Gold, but less expensive that Diamond. Makes sense?

“Baahren phir bhi aayengi” (1966) is a film now remembered as the last production of Guru Dutt and some of the beautiful songs like Aapke haseen rukh pe aaj bada noor hai . I have found this nice duet from the film sung by Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle. The music of this film is as can be guessed from the composition is by O. P. Nayyar. And the lyricist is Shevan Rizvi.

Hindi film industry has given rise to several controversies, some of them are settled, some are forever a question mark and some controversies come up again and again with the slightest of provocation. The worst thing in a controversy is that even if statements of clarification are given by the concerned people involved with it, it is viewed with suspicion of a personal bias.

The autobiography of C Ramchandra( Majhya Jeevana chi Sargam-copyright by Yeshwant Ramchandra Chitalkar) is somewhat disappointing. Its major part is spent on describing various exploits of C Ramchnadra with different women. Normally one expectes that the writer would focus on his worldly achievements and creations, which gave him name and fame, but on this count this book is a failure. Not that it is totally bereft of such things, but considering his musical successes during the Golden Era, one feels deprived of more discussions on music related topics.
