One can easily get philosophical too, besides the celebratory aspect. So okay, one more year, one more Holi celebration, one more set of songs posted. . . And the wheel of life continues to roll. . .
Into the fourteenth year of continuous daily publication, since July 2008. And we have gone past on the way, fourteen Holi celebrations. In the earlier post today, Peevesie’s Mom ji has written that we have 66 Holi songs already posted here. She refers to one of my earlier posts, in which I have written that the Hindi cinema has an intense liking for this festival. And that we still have quite a number of Holi celebration songs that are awaiting discovery out there, and also, waiting to take their place on this blog.

Today (18 march 2022), the blog had two guest posts so far, and both pertained to Holi. That created some confusion in my mind. I was under the impression that Holika dahan is on the night of 18/19 march and Holi is on 19 march 2022. To add to my confusion, I found out that Railway HQ in Southern Railway, Chennai was open today on 18 march 2022. It turns out that I was out of phase by one day from others. It turns out that even Chennai celebrates holi today. It is only Southern Railway HQ in Chennai that has decided to work on this day. 🙂

Today we have a 2-part song from the film Guzara-1954.
The film was made by Aina pictures-owned by S.M.Yusuf. The film was produced and directed by S.M.Yusuf himself. he also did a small role in this film- the only film role he ever did in his film career. There were 3 lyricists- Raja Mehdi Ali Khan (5 songs), Fauk Jami (2 songs) and Munir Lucknowi (1 song) for the film’s 8 songs. Music Director was Ghulam Mohammad.

Today’s song is from a ‘1957’ movie namely ‘Janam Janam Ke Phere’.
I have mentioned it in my earlier articles that I had the good fortune of being able to watch many black and white movies in my childhood. Recalling those days is a source of great nostalgia for me. ‘Janam Janam Ke Phere’ is one of those black and white classics that I watched in one of the weekly screening of movies at our colony club where we resided.

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Subah O Shaam’ (1972). This is one of the movies still missing on the blog. I became aware of this movie almost seven years back through HFGK when I got my first copy of HFGK i.e. HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980). I had then planned to present a Rafi song from this movie – “Meri Biwi Jahaan Se Niraali Hai”. I was actually looking for songs in the category ‘praising the wife/spouse song’; later on I dropped that idea (something for the good I think). Today I am presenting a duet song from this movie, which is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar.
