Recently I saw an ad in the newspapers which made me realise that there is something called the “World Music Day” and that it is held in about 120 countries. It is Fête de la Musique’ or Make Music Day or World Music Day.
Now whenever I come across such World or International things I have started reading about it from the (my) trusted source—Wikipedia. And I will say that most times it gives correct knowledge.

Let me start with a confession.
In my childhood – and for many years thereafter – whenever there was a “mujra” song in a Hindi film, I wouldn’t pay much attention to it.
Unless of course, it was a well-known song. Like songs of Pakeezah. Then I would sit through and enjoy the song.

Duniya Gol hai ! It looks like I go round and round and round and somehow end up discussing C.Ramchandra songs every now and then !! Believe me, it is not intentional, but a coincidence. When I see a good song not yet posted here, I get tempted to discuss it. If it is a C Ramchandra song, then I admit that the urge to post it becomes simply irresistible !!!. Today, with this post, we arrive at the 12,100th post on this blog. That’s 121 centuries that this blog has clocked so far. The mind continues to boggle.
As a person who’s seen this blog from day one (from the time “mile na phool” was posted as the very first song on this blog), I feel elated everytime we reach a milestone. I still remember when Atul posted the 100th and then 200th and so on. Each one was an occasion for celebration. Because each one was a marker of progress on a journey that we knew would be a long (and highly enjoyable) one. We have done that 121 times now – and I think I speak for many of us when I say, ye dil maange more. :-).

Indian cricket and Bollywood both enjoy enormous popularity among Indians. With the fan following that some of the cricketing stars enjoy, a few producers have toyed with the idea of featuring them in main roles, side roles and also in guest roles in their movies. We are at 12090 songs at the time of writing this. We have covered 3403 movies in the nearly eight years of this blog’s existence. 781 movies have all their songs covered. So when I was looking for a song featuring an old time music director/ singer on the occasion of his birthday today I was in for a surprise. Today (16 june 2016) is Hemant Kumar’s 96th birth anniversary.

Readers from Gujarat must have heard the name of Shri Rajanikumar Pandya ji, a famous writer and winner of five awards from Sahitya Academy of Gujarat. One of the several books he has written on film people is “Aap ki Parchhaainyaan “.( He had gifted me this book). This book contains information derived from his personal interactions with several film greats like Nargis, Talat, Shamshad, Mubarak Begum, Jaikishen, Mukesh, Rafi, Composers Kalyan ji – Anand ji, Naushad, Anil Biswas, Hemant Kumar, Kavi Pradeep and a few more. In this book he has devoted 30 pages for his personal experiences with Jagmohan Sursagar ( Jaganmoy Mitra ). This is about the period close to two years when Jagmohan first stayed in his house and later elsewhere in Ahmmedabad. Jagmohan had already retired by that time and he was a devastated person due to the demise of his mother and wife in a span of a few months.
