18th September 2015 is the birthday of Kaifi and Shaukat Azmi’s daughter Shabana Azmi. She turns 66 on this day.
There are many children who are known as so-and-so’s child and there are many children who make a place for themselves in public eye and then the parents are called so-and-so’s parents. That means Shabana Azmi’s Pehchaan need not be as Kaifi and Shaukat Azmi’s daughter. She is a persona by herself. Being the poet’s daughter or the veteran stage actress’s daughter only explains her artistic leanings.

Today’s song is from the film Abhimaan-1973.
It is not that I write only about films and music of the period from 1930s to 1960s. Though that is my first love and also my forte, I believe that Amitabh’s films of the 70s and 80s are in a league of their own. Like millions of his fans, I too was an ardent fan of Amitabh Bachchan for his pre-1984 films. My most favourite film of Amitabh Bachchan is Trishool-78. In those days, I had bought the VCR cassette of Trishool and watched the film repeatedly on it,till my wife and daughters got sick of it and staged a mutiny against me. After the VCR became obsolete, I sold it at just Rs. 100 and also disposed off all the video cassettes-except Trishool. It is still with me, as useless as anything can be and occupying a space in the cabinet. It carries a sentimental value for me. Though I can not play it anymore, arting with it is out of question. Incidentally I do not have VCD of this or for that matter of any other film.

Ganpati Bappa Morya!! One more Ganesh festival in the life of this blog. We have been having songs from bollywood movies posted in this blog every year. So why should this year be any different. Today’s song is a special song for several reasons. The first reason is that with this song posted today, film Memsaahib-56 completes all the songs on this Blog. Secondly This song is shot on Meena Kumari,who, for a change,can be seen in a very jolly,smiling and joyous mood. She is also in western outfits. This is a film,before she put on lot of weight at wrong places, and to hide it, she was always dressed in sarees with long sleeve blouses. The third and most important reason is, this film song video shows many pets,like Cats, Dogs and Birds. I am sure, Atul ji will like this song very much. Meena Kumari is probably celebrating the birthday of one of her pets. This is also one of the rare films of composer Madan Mohan,in which almost all songs had become popular.
