Raaton ka Raaja (1970) is a ‘ B ‘ or ‘C’ grade movie, it seems to me, seeing the star cast of Dheeraj Kumar and Vaishali. At least Dheeraj Kumar is a known face, where as Vaishali is unknown actor. o what am I doing discussing song from this movie ? The answer is , this movie has a Rafi-Lata duet, written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by R. D. Burman. Two songs from this movie are alreay posted in the blog.

I first heard this private song of Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh, in the film ‘Hero’ (1983). In a scene in the film Meenakshi Sheshadri is seen moping around and listening to this song on a cassette player. Just a few lines are heard before the scene continues on, but later on we got to hear the whole song in a cassette of this duo’s ghazals. I do not remember the name of the collection. It may have been ‘classic collection’ .

‘Dillagi’ (1978) is a comedy movie, with the story of college lecturers and students. It is written and directed by Basu Chatterjee. Reading its reviews at imdb website is indicating it must be hilarious somewhat on the lines of ‘Chupke Chupke’. Now that is one movie I have seen.

This song is there with for some time now. In fact I had saved the link long back, never got around to even writing down the lyrics. Than some days ago I chanced upon a link of Radio Cylon Rafi special programme on 31/07/2012. This song was the first to be played in that programme. I thought I know the song, so it must be posted. Lekin, jab song blog mein nahin milaa to iss ko aur andhere mein rakhnaa na insaafi hai.

This song from the film Ghajini (2008) is desert song no. 11. This movie is action thriller/Drama/romance film remake of a Tamil/Telegu film of same name released in 2005. The story is about a business tycoon, suffering from ‘short term memory loss’. He is out to take revenge for his girlfriend’s murder. The murderer’e name is the title of the movie. Due to his ‘Short term memory loss’ situation, he has all the important information concerning his life tattoo’ed on his body, so that he never loses sight of his mission. Since ‘chaudhvin ka chaand ho ya aaftaab ho’ from the film ‘ Chaudhvin ka chaand ‘, no one had really attempted to recreate the magic of it. The reason is obvious that it is a tough act to follow. The beauty of that song in black n white is not comparable to anything.

‘Isi ka naam duniya hai’ (1962) is a film starring Ashok Kumar, Shyama, Mehmood & Sahira etc. A few songs of this movie that I have found on youtube are all picturised on Mehmood and Sahira. Only one song from this film is posted in the blog. For the second song from this movie, I had a choice among three Mehmood songs that I have seen. With careful consideration, I decided on this party song, which is also a piano song.

This is the Rafi-Lata Duet from Film ‘Sehra” (1963). It is picturized on Sandhya and Prashant. I saw this song for the first time while looking for desert songs in this film. And it is clear from the picturization that it was a precursor to this song in Sangam (1964).
