Today (26 january 2014) is the 65th Republic day of India. It is easily the most important red letter day in the annals of independent India because India became a democratic republic on this day. Considering the old habits the Indians were used to for thousands of years, this was a new concept for Indians and many Indians have not fully reconciled to this concept even today, but this concept has paved the way for a nation where all Indians , irrespective of their backgrounds were guaranteed equality- something which was not guaranteed to them before 26 january 1950. Republic day also stresses the fact that India represents unity in diversity and that Indians, for all their diverse backgrounds can live and work with their fellow countrymen in harmony.

The music of “Seeta Aur Geeta”(1972) was so good that I was dying to watch this movie. My desperate prayers worked and I found myself being taken to the movie hall that was screening this movie. That movie hall was a newly built movie hall (called Sandhya Cinema) and “Seeta Aur Geeta” (1972) in fact was the very first movie that was screened in this hall.
