Rafi Sahab’s Legendary Associations – 15
Back in 2021, I had started this ambitious series for posts to highlight the significant associations in Rafi Sahab’s career. I knew that very few and far between, songs of the major influencers on Rafi Sahab’s singing, were remaining to be posted in the blog, even in 2021.
Most of these stalwarts were old timers, like Naushad, S. D. Burman, Shankar-Jaikishan, Chitragupt, Ravi and C. Ramchandra etc. A few of them of them were more contemporary, like R. D. Burman and Laxmikant-Pyarelal, who were with him. They were the latest beneficiaries of Rafi magic, who were ‘faizyafta” till the end, in 1980. Both started in 1966-67 and continued. Even Kalyanji-Anandji was composing songs for Rafi sahab till the end of 70’s. Madan Mohan and Ravi did it throughout his career and till “Laila Majnu” in 1976, and was the only one who started in 50’s and ended and 70’s, apart from Naushad.

“Kundan”(1972) was directed by Prayagraj fopr R M arts productions, Bombay. This B grade Daaku movie had Shatrughan Sinha, Vijayshree (South/new discovery), Ranjeet, Lakshmi Chhaya, Veena Tiwari, Shekhar Purohit, Jayshree T, Indira Bansal, Prakash Mishra, Master Chiku, Fazal Khan, Sujata, Rajani Bala, Prem Sagar, Mirza Musharraf, Anjuman, Maqbool, Kamal Kumar, Arun Kaul, Omi Chopra, Gurbachan, Vinod Rao etc in it. Ram Mohan and Jeevanhad made special appearances in this movie.

Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 54
Well, coming back to my favourite series, the rare Asha Bhosle sung songs, I present to you this song “Aaja Mere Saathi Mere Yaar” from “The Criminals” AKA “Hum Sab Chor Hain” (1973). This song is sung by Asha Bhosle, written by Indeevar and composed by Usha Khanna.
The main star cast of the movie was Dara Singh and Sheikh Mukhtar in the lead roles, with supporting performances from Hiralal, Jagdish Raj, Shabnam, and Kundan, among others.
It was directed by Maruti Rao Parab for producer A V Mohan.
