Today’s song is a rare song by Meena Mangeshkar from the film Aabroo-1956.
Meena Mangeshkar is the number two of the 4 Mangeshkar sisters – Lata, Meena, Asha and Usha, with the youngest sibling being their brother Hridaynath. Meena was born on 8-9-1931 to Master Deenanath Mangeshkar and wife Shevanti. Like other sisters, Meena too got education in Music from her father and other experts, but she never entered the film line for singing, because she got married to Vasant Khadikar, a businessman, quite early as per prevailing norms those days. By the way, Meena is the only one among the 4 sisters to have been married to a single person throughout her life. Lata and Usha never got married while Asha was the most experienced. She had 3 Life partners. Meena lost her husband in 2011. She has a son-Yogesh and a daughter-Rachana.

We are firmly into the summer season in India. But weather conditions have totally changed in the last one week. Storms brewing in the sea away from the land have brought about some unseasonal weather. First we saw Tauktae cyclone forming in Arabian sea that hit Indian west coast from Kerala, Karnataka, upto Maharashtra and Gujarat, wreaking havoc in these regions the process. Soon thereafter another cyclone called Yaas developed in the Bay of Bengal and hit the East Coast of India- viz Orissa, West Bengal etc. causing devastation in the coastal area.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 96
———————————————————————————–
25 November 2010, the date exactly ten years ago was a day when six songs were covered in the blog. But unlike earlier months of the year when all six or seven songs got covered before 10 AM, this day was a struggle. The first article (post number 3251) was posted at 8:39 AM. The sixth and final post of the day appeared in the evening at 7:44 PM. So it was a struggle, rather than a breeze, to publish the day’s quota of songs on this day ten years ago.
Here is the list of six songs that were posted on 25 November 2010:-
| Post number | Song | Movie (Year) | Status of songs of the movie |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3251 | O pardesiyaa pyaar ki bahaar leke | Bahaar (1951) | Movie YIPPEED |
| 3252 | Tod ke do nainon ka taalaa | Daakaa (1959) | 4 songs covered out of 6 |
| 3253 | Dil apna aur preet paraayi | Dil apna aur preet paraayi (1960) | Movie YIPPEED |
| 3254 | Jai Raghunandan Jai Siyaram | Gharaana(1961) | Movie YIPPEED |
| 3255 | Neend ud jaaye teri chain se sone waale | Juaari(1968) | Movie YIPPEED |
| 3256 | Tum se bichhad ke chain kahaan ham paayenge | Maharaja(1970) | 2 songs covered out of 5 |
We can see that four movies out of six whose songs were discussed have already been YIPPEED by now. So songs of only two movies, viz “Daaka”(1959) and “Maharaja”(1970) are eligible for Blog Ten Year Challenge today (25 November 2020).

Today (1 july 2019) happens to be the first day of the month (pehli taareekh). People today are no longer as happy and bullish about pehli taareekh as they were till a few decades back, nevertheless it remains an important day for people.
This time, it happens to be monday, the first working day as well. 😉 It is as if one is beginning the new month with a clean slate, with the first working day of the week. 🙂 There are people who dread mondays. I am sure regulars of this blog are not among such people. 🙂
This day happens to be quite an important day for the blog as well. Today is the 4000th day for this blog ! 4000 days of continuous vibrant existence, with posts almost every day !

Yesterday (26th June) there was a discussion on the ‘Atulites Whatsapp group’ regarding songs containing the word ‘June’ in them. I thought that some of us would definitely point out this song – how can seventies’ fans miss this. So, our beloved Raja ji pointed out this song and reminding it that it was quite a popular song in those days. I must be 2/3 years old then, so I can’t say much about this 🙂 but, after listening this song now, I can say that it’s tune is quite nice and enjoyable and one can easily be humming this song after listening to it once.
I had come across this song few months back during my routine browsing, and since the starting of this month – ‘June’, I wanted to share the song during this month. I was thinking of sharing this song, but as the month progressed it was very hectic on work front for me and it slipped out of mind. But nevertheless, since yesterday’s discussion I thought we still have few days in this month of June and can enjoy this song.

Today’s song is from an obscure film- Sansaar Naiya-1939. This film was made jointly by Paramount and liberty pictures, Bombay. Actually, both these film companies made only and mainly Action/Stunt and Costume films. Since this was a ‘Social’ film, may be they had to support each others as they were presumably not used to handling such ‘offbeat’ film, from what they were accustomed to produce !

Today’s song is from a very old film of the early talkie cinema – ‘Khwab Ki Duniya’ (1937) aka ‘Dreamland’.
This was the first film directed by Vijay Bhatt, after he and his brother Shankar Bhatt established Prakash Pictures. In those days, the trend was to make films on mythology, folk tales or social issues. Instead, Prakash Pictures took up a totally new and untried topic like Science Fiction story to make a movie. Film ‘Khwab Ki Duniya’ was based on – or took inspiration from the Hollywood popular film, Universal Studio’s ‘The Invisible Man’ (1933). This film was a cinematic adaptation of the famous novel ‘The Invisible Man’ written by HG Wells in 1897.
