“We are Team – Yippeeee!!”

***

# Location – Bunkers in South – The Head Quarters – ‘Yippeeee’- #
(Mar-April -2016)

Sitting in his digitalized, ‘Wi-Fi…ed- musical chamber, ‘Yippeeee Guru’ was restless after he recovered from a short break ( 🙂 , due to health problems and other priorities) of nearly six months from ‘Yippeeee’…

The messages through the unseen satellite waves were very well understood by ‘yours very sincerely’ and two other members of the ‘Yippeeee’ locations – one in the country as well as the other across the globe.

The contacts were soon into action and messages started flowing in to and fro!

‘Yippeeee’ group on ‘Whatsapp’ geared-up and emails started floating …

The ‘Yippeeee Guru’ soon took control of the blog too and he was seen enjoying earlier posts and commenting on them.
It seemed that he wanted to compensate for the ‘lull’ that was there for almost five-six months.

Yours sincerely sensed Guru’s restlessness and since he was the first point where it needed to be re-started, he sent a message to ‘Guru’, ‘Her Majesty’ and ‘Ben Katie’ (other two members of the group) …

‘Let us revive Yippeeee!!’

For a soft and lovely and romantic expression, it probably does not get better than this delightful ghazal. The words, the music, and the rendition – all have come together to craft this wonderful expression of bashful love. Love, that wants to say many things, but remains un-speaking, when presented with the opportunity. The anxiety and hesitations tie the tongue, and the moments pass by without a word being said. Shakeel Sb has so beautifully painted the words around this emotion. Each couplet is a priceless gem. I am bowled over with how the words are knitted together.

jaane kis raah par jaa rahi theen
un ko dekha to manzil samajh kar
ruk gaya karvaan un ke aage

“Sanyasi” was a 1975 movie which had Manoj Kumar and Hema Malini in the lead. It had Sulochana Latkar playing mother to Manoj Kumar and Pran played Shanti Baba a true Sanyasi to Premnath’s Ishwar Baba who is a baba by day and Daku Mangal Singh at other times. The plot was pretty simple with the rich mother wanting to keep her son away from vices that his father had. She teaches him positive values Geeta etc and the son also dutifully refrains from all vices and in addition also becomes a sanyasi. Hema Malini played Champa alias Arti whose job is to break the sanyasi’s vow of celibacy and try and marry him. Added in the story is the case of Girdhari and Bhanwari played by Raj Mehra and Prem Chopra who are out to con the rich widow and walk away with her property. This synopsis I had read a long time ago in the various internet sites. I have never seen the movie but I had liked most of its songs specially “Sun bal brahmachari main hoon Kanyakumari” and “Karm kiye jaa phal ki chinta mat kar-e-insaan”.

Three years ago on this day, we had a song from the 1974 Balaji Arts’ “Kunwara Baap” in the blog. Today let us have one more song from the same movie. This is the song with which the movie opens and the movie titles roll on the screen as the song progresses.

Hullo to all in Atuldom

We all know the meaning of the word “Bhaand”; for those not conversant with colloquial Hindi; googling the word throws up meanings —Clown, Mimic, Comedian etc. “Bhaands” are also traditionally folk entertainers which might mean a storyteller, minstrels, dancers, actors, impressionists etc. Most bhaands belong to families that are engaged in folk entertainment as their hereditary profession, their specific art forms vary greatly by region, community and language. The term bhaand itself can also mean either a specific dramatic story or an entire form/school of drama.

Mukesh and his Composers – 11a
———————————-
The last post on this series dealt with the non-film songs sung by Mukesh for Ravindra Jain. That was nearly five months back. Some personal and professional matters crept in resulting in the inordinate delay. Though there was enough time for a few posts, the procrastinator in me kept on scoring small victories resulting in the holdup.
