That occasion is here again. The occasion when we reach a blog century post and then start wondering which song to cover as the century song. This time, I had a genneral idea that which artists should figure in the sopng. Apart from that, I was just as unprepared for the occasion as I generally am whenever a blog century appears. #The Decade of Eighties – 1981 – 1990 #

Today 27th November 2025 is the seventy-third birth anniversary of Composer Singer Bappi Lahiri (27.11.1952-15.02.2022). On this occasion as a tribute to him I am presenting a song from the movie ‘Sinhaasan-1986’.
I got to listen to this song earlier this year when I was still at Vadodara and was travelling from the city to my workplace around 47 kms from the city. I had earlier presented filmography of Bappi Lahiri for his Hindi Films from the 1970s and also for few years of the 1980s. However I did not include it in my series of Bappi Lahiri songs where I had presented songs that are part of my memory till 1985, because this song did not fall in that category.
Today’s movie ‘Sinhaasan-1986’ was directed by Krishna who also produced it for ‘Padmalaya Studio, Madras’. So this is one of those movies of actor Jeetendra where he was a part of many films coming from the southern part of the country. Bappi Lahiri too was the regular music composer for such films. I have not watched this movie, so can’t say much about it. However it seems to be a ‘fantasy’ movie. The cast of this movie has Jeetendra, Jaya Prada, Pran, Kader Khan, Mandakini, Shakti Kapoor, Bharat Bhooshan, Dr Shreeram Lagoo, Amjad Khan, Sujit Kumar, Gulshan Grover, Gurbachan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, Radha and others.

‘Apne Paraaye’ (1980) was produced by Mushir-Riyaz and was directed by Basu Chatterjee. The cast included Amol Palekar, Shabana Azmi, Utpal Dutt, Ashalata Wabgaonkar, Girish Karnad, Bharti Achrekar, Maneesha, Manik Dutt, Gopi Sapru, Zareena, Amal Sen etc.
This was Bharati Achrekar’s first Hindi film. She is the daughter of Hindustani classical singer, Manik Verma and lyricist Amar Verma.
This was Ashalata’s (Ashalata Wabgaonkar) first major role in a Hindi film. She had debuted in Hindi film with ‘Zanjeer’ (1973) in a role of the foster mother of Amitabh Bachchan.

Today 28th September 2025 is the ninety-sixth birth anniversary of Legendary Singer Lata Mangeshkar. She was born on 28th September 1929 and she passed away on 6th of February’2022. On this occasion I am presenting a song from the ‘1991’ movie ‘First Love Letter’.
“First Love Letter-1991” was directed by Shiva for Vishaldeep International’s, Bombay. It was produced by Pahlaj Nihalani. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 03.09.1991. It had Vivek Mushran, Manisha Koirala, Dilip Tahil, Gulshan Grover, Sushama Sheth, Bina, Reema Lagoo, and Danny Denzongpa. Paintal and Harish Patel had a guest appearance in this movie and Sonika Gill had a special appearance in this movie. Story and Screenplay of this movie was written by Ram Kelkar and dialogues were written by Kamlesh Pandey. The editing of this movie was done by Nandkumar. Lyricist Anjaan wrote all the seven songs (including one multiple version song) of this movie and music was composed by Bappi Lahiri. Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, S.P. Balasubramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurthy were the playback singers for this movie.

Hullo Atuldom
Wishing our guiding force; ex-Ranchiwala now-Bhopali Gaanewala, usually addressed as Atulji by the followers of ASAD (acronym for atulsongaday) A Very Happy Birthday. I thank him (as always) for providing us this platform where “birds of a feather flock together”. What started as a place for one post (not necessarily one song though, as some posts contain all versions of a song) a day had become a multi-post per day blog after the initial few months of its journey.
