I have posted a few songs from “Anand” (1970) in the past. I was not aware that I had not posted this song. there are so many nice songs in this movie that it is easy to lose track of these songs, This movie has outstanding songs sung by different singers.

“Aavishkaar” (1973) was a low budget movie with a different (and realistic) story line. Such movies were called “new wave” movies, and later “art” movies and such movies struggled to get released in movie halls.

Rajesh Khanna made his debut in “Aakhri Khat” (1966). This was a black and white movie, and this movie could well be described as a classic. This must be one of the few movies that could be called a movie with an original and different plot. At least I hope that this movie is an original and not inspired by some other movie.

When I was young, I loved making records- no, not the kind of records that played on record players, but the kind which gave you gloating rights. For instance, there were people who would have the record of watching every movie on the first day, first show, and there were some people who would boast of watching the same movie 100 times.

Many of R D Burman’s songs in 1970s were fast paced songs that were loud, party songs. But when the sitauation demanded, R D Burman could come up with soft, sensitive romantic songs too.

There are several songs that play at the very beginning of the movie as the credits begin rolling in on screen. I have not yet had a category for them, but I think I should call such songs as movie opening songs. They open the movie like how opening batsmen open an innings in a cricket match.
