‘Saathiya’ (2002) was produced jointly by Yash Raj Films and Madras Talkies (of Mani Ratnam). It was a remake of Mani Ratnam’s super hit Tamil film,’Alai Payuthey’ (2000) with Madhavan and Shalini in lead roles. ‘Saathiya’ (2002) was directed by Shad Ali (son of the new wave film maker, Muzaffar Ali and his ex-wife Subhashini Ali), his first film as a director. ‘Ankur’ (1974), the first Hindi feature film made by Shyam Benegal gave push to the movement of new wave films (also called as the parallel cinema) in Hindi film industry. Perhaps, it was the first Hindi parallel film, that too in a rural setting, which became a commercial success. His next two films, ‘Nishant’ (1975) and ‘Manthan’ (1976) was also based in rural setting, and they were also commercially successful. Shyam Bengal had made some more such films like ‘Kondura; (1980), ‘Aarohan’ (1982), ‘Susman’ (1987) etc which were critically acclaimed. But these latter films did not receive the same reception from the film audience as his first three films.

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Missing movies of 1973-14)
——————————————-——————————

Today we introduce the till now missing movie ‘Vishnu Puraan’ to join the movies of ‘1973’ on the blog.

“Vishnu Puraan-1973” was directed by Shridhar Prasad for ‘Shibani Pictures, Bombay’. It was produced by Bhanu Bannerjee.

“Vishnu Puraan” was a mythological movie inspired from the ‘folk tales’ and ‘legends’ of our country, and especially the ‘Katha Saritsaagar’ written by Somdev and the play ‘Swapnvasavadattam’ written by Mahakavi Bhas. This movie was about the ‘ten incarnations’ (‘dash-avtaar’) as mentioned in ‘Vishnu Puraan’, their greatness and glory.

#the Decade of Fifties – 1951 – 1960 #
————————————————————————

I joined this blog as a ‘lyrics contributor’ in September’2012 and I began by sharing lyrics of songs from the seventies to pre-eighties. These songs were the songs those were ‘nostalgic’ for me and ‘songs that brings back memories’ for me. Slowly and gradually during my daily browsing I started coming across many golden oldies that I was not aware of or the songs that I had never listened before. I was also under the impression the songs possessed by me on the cassettes were the old songs that were available because I was not aware of the total number of songs created till then. It was only after I came in contact with this blog that I became aware of the number of songs created. That put things in perspective for me and I realised where my collection of 400-500 cassettes stood vis a vis that total number of HFM songs.

The other day when this song from the film Takshak(1999) appeared in the blog, it invoked memories of another film song of the same actors, a similar dance song, where Tabu is dancing with a group of girls, in day light this time. The song is from the film “Vijaypath”(1994), already posted in the blogAaiye aapka intezaar thhaa.

#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Debutant Movie-Gumraah-1976)
——————————————————————————

In my wish-list of ‘movies with same titles’ there are still many movies that are yet to be introduced on the blog. One can definitely say that this list is surely going to be a long list.

Today we get introduced to the movie ‘Gumraah-1976’. It will be joining the better known ‘Gumraah’ of ‘1963’ on the blog.

“Today’s article is inspired from a real-life story and is based on real life experiences happening in our day to day life”

Any ‘resemblance’ of the story/character mentioned in the article is much expected (and is not a mere ‘coincidence’) with ‘everyman’/ ‘everywoman’s life especially who have been ‘immersed’ in love sometime in their life, and/or could not turned into a lifetime relationship.
Some of them could be ‘Hindi movie buffs’ and lovers of HFM (especially the songs of love –and songs of milan and judaai etc etc.) for which the author should not be held responsible or criticized or punished in ‘any’ form 🙂
