We are on the last date of the first month of the 21st year of the 21st century.
January happens to be a cold month in the northern hemisphere of the earth. And India is in the middle of having winter which is characterized by fog, mist, cold winds etc depending on the Latitude that one resides on. When I used to be in Mumbai, the closest I came to experiencing ‘Sardi’, ‘Thandi’ etc was in the last week of December or first week of January. That too in the morning hours, till about 8 o’clock, then the thermometer would read round about 27 and 30 degrees Celsius during the day. I don’t remember seeing fog or mist there, but I had different climatic experiences once we shifted to Bangalore. I have seen all winter related features which last from November to January end with temperatures dropping to 10 degrees etc. Now in my current station, which is in the midst of lots of greenery and away from the hustle bustle of city-life, though the temperature did not touch 10 degrees on any day, we have been experiencing thick fog, cold winds, cold floors, etc.

Today’s song is from the film Shri Nagad Narayan-1955.
There is a little story on why I have chosen this song today for my post here. Only the other day, I was going through my mails, searching for some reference. while searching for it, i went back well upto 2014 mails. Suddenly my attention fell on a mail written on 25-8-2014, by our friend in ASAD group-Mr. Mahesh Mamadapur. The mail was addressed to me, Atul ji and Sudhirji. It pointed out that a song by Khan Mastana in the film Shri Nagad Narayan-55 was still uncovered and he had suggested that one of us should make a post on it, as it was a good song.

“Khoon Ka Badla Khoon” (1978) had songs by the hit team of S.H. Bihari- O.P.Nayyar; the team that gave us “kajra mohabbatwala”, “haule haule chalo more saajna”, taarif karoon kya uski”, “bahut shukriya badi meherbaani” and many more such hits in the ’60s.
“KKBK” had Vani Jairam, Pushpa Pagdhare, Uttara Kelkar, Mohd. Rafi for playback singers. It was directed by K. Parvez a.k.a Kalpataru and produced by Ratan Mohan. It had seven or eight songs of which the blog has only one song.

72nd Republic Day – 26/01/2021
———————————————————-
dekho kaheen barbaad na hove ye bageecha
dekho kaheen barbaad na hove ye bageecha
isko hriday ke khoon se Baapu ne hai seencha
rakkha hai ye chiraag shaheedon ne baal ke,
iss desh ko rakhna mere bachchon sambhaal ke
ham laaye hain toofaan se kishti nikaal ke
iss desh ko rakhna mere bachchon sambhaal ke
For the last 13-14 years, I have seen that always original soundtracks of patriotic songs are played on every national festival day morning for at least 2 hours in the flag hoisting ceremony held at the building, adjacent to mine. Every year I am hoping that these songs, some of them very old are being played in my building, but no, they are in the next building:-). Always it is the case of ‘door ke dhol suhaane’ to express in the hindustani parlance.

A very Happy Republic day to one and all.
“India is my country
And all Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country, and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give respect to my parents, teachers, and all elders and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion.
In their well being and prosperity alone, lies my happiness
Jai Hind!.”
This is the national pledge which is commonly found printed in the opening pages of the school text books and calendars. It is recited in the morning assembly of most Indian schools. It is part of the Indian Constitution. It is commonly recited by Indians in unison at public events, Independence day, Republic day etc. At least it used be so when I was a student, don’t know if this is still in practice. We all know who wrote the National Anthem or the National song but the author of the National Pledge is largely unknown. His name is P.V. Subba Rao who was a Telugu author and bureaucrat who composed the pledge when he was serving as District Treasury Officer in Vishakapatnam district in 1962/63. It was subsequently translated into other languages. Apparently Subba Rao himself was unaware of the Pledge having been adopted as National Pledge till he heard his grand daughter reading it from a textbook.

Today’s song is from the film Bahu Beti-1952.

Today’s song is from the ‘1986’ movie ‘Begaanaa’. It may be a recent movie by the standards of the blog, but it had made its debut on the blog on 19.08.2008 with its nice touching song sung by Kishore Kumar.

Today’s song is a rare song from a C grade Stunt film-Khooni Laash-43. This film was made by Amrit pictures. The name of Producer or the Director of this film is not mentioned in HFGK. This is one of the several problems of the C grade Stunt/ Action films, made on shoestring budgets. Most times the film booklet was not issued and in maximum cases the song records were also not issued commercially. In some films, selected songs are available on records. In the cast also only 4 names are given. The music director was K.Narayan Rao.
