Today’s song is from the film Bhanwara-1944.

It was a Saigal film. I had no chance to write about a song from any Saigal film, because there were better people to write on Saigal. Who can forget the efforts taken by Atul ji and Sudhir ji in ensuring that possibly all available Film and Non Film songs of Saigal are discussed and archived in this Blog. It is sheerly by coincidence that I am writing on a song from a Saigal film, because it is not sung by Saigal and it was till now, not available on YouTube.

Hullo Atuldom

We are on the last date of the first month of the 21st year of the 21st century.

January happens to be a cold month in the northern hemisphere of the earth. And India is in the middle of having winter which is characterized by fog, mist, cold winds etc depending on the Latitude that one resides on. When I used to be in Mumbai, the closest I came to experiencing ‘Sardi’, ‘Thandi’ etc was in the last week of December or first week of January. That too in the morning hours, till about 8 o’clock, then the thermometer would read round about 27 and 30 degrees Celsius during the day. I don’t remember seeing fog or mist there, but I had different climatic experiences once we shifted to Bangalore. I have seen all winter related features which last from November to January end with temperatures dropping to 10 degrees etc. Now in my current station, which is in the midst of lots of greenery and away from the hustle bustle of city-life, though the temperature did not touch 10 degrees on any day, we have been experiencing thick fog, cold winds, cold floors, etc.

Today’s song is from the film Shri Nagad Narayan-1955.

There is a little story on why I have chosen this song today for my post here. Only the other day, I was going through my mails, searching for some reference. while searching for it, i went back well upto 2014 mails. Suddenly my attention fell on a mail written on 25-8-2014, by our friend in ASAD group-Mr. Mahesh Mamadapur. The mail was addressed to me, Atul ji and Sudhirji. It pointed out that a song by Khan Mastana in the film Shri Nagad Narayan-55 was still uncovered and he had suggested that one of us should make a post on it, as it was a good song.
