10th October is the date when Rekha (born Bhanurekha) turns a year older.
Rekha, who made a debut in films as a teenage, first in telugu followed by Kannada & Hindi, has been seen in close to 180 films. She has also acted in a Bhojpuri film. She had given her voice to characters played by Smita Patil, that were at the dubbing stage & left incomplete due to Smita’s death. She has also tried her hand at singing, she didn’t sound bad.

Finally, I got its audio version from Deepak Chaudhari ji and as usual it was uploaded for me by our friend Sadanand Kamath ji. I thank both of them. This is the last and final song of this film.

Bhupen Hazarika was born on 8th of September’1926 in Sadiya, Assam. He left this worldly place on 5th of November 2011.
Bhupen Hazarika needs no introduction to music lovers all over the world. Known as the ‘Bard of the Brahmaputra’ he wrote over eight hundred songs in Assamese. His love for his mother tongue and his culture, particularly the folklore of Assam, can be experienced in his poetry, lyrics, compositions and parables that speak of the socio-political and other general folk landscape of Assam. As a music composer he used the folk music with a touch of contemporary.

The place where we stay in Vadodara is near a ‘party plot’ where celebrations, mainly marriage functions take place quite often. Naturally marriage processions too accompany these marriage functions in the road adjacent to the housing society. The sound of the music and singing by the band party create a huge din. The sound of the DJ is so much that it causes vibrations in our third floor flat. There is also one ‘regular’ band party that has a male singer who also sings in a ‘female voice’. Normally they play old songs from the years of 1970s -1980s. This band party is almost a fixture for marriage functions that take place in this locality.

The film was directed by Gurinder Chadha. The cast included Aishwarya Rai and Martin Henderson in lead roles with the supporting cast of Anupam Kher, Nadira Babbar, Naveen Andrews, Namrata Shirodkar, Meghna Kothari, Piya Roy Chowdhary, Indira Verma, Daniel Gillies, Sonali Kulkarni, Nitin Ganatra etc. The film was shot in the UK, the USA and India. The lead actor, Martin Henderson was born and brought-up in Auckland, New Zealand and now settled in Los Angles with his career in films and TV. Naveen Andrews was born and brought up in London.
