Every morning I walk my pets by turns. That is a good time for thinking and getting interesting thoughts. I realised that our blog centuries (when they are taking place at their normal pace) are like lunar months. In the past, we would complete our centuries in 15-16 days which was like one paksh of a lunar month. Nowadays we are taking nearly twice as long to complete a century. In other words, our centuries these days take as long as a lunar month. In other words, these days we are getting one century post per month.

“Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki” was a 1978 movie produced and directed by Raj Khosla. it was given certificate on 14th July 1978 and released on 4th August 1978. It starred Nutan, Asha Parekh, Vinod Khanna, Vijay Anand, Deb Mukherji, Neeta Mehta and introduced Geeta Behl to Bollywood. The movie was based on the Marathi novel “Ashi Tujhi Preet” by Chandrakant Kakodkar. The songs were written by Anand Bakshi and tuned by Laxmikant- Pyarelal.

In addtions, Madan Puri,A.K.Hangal,Prema Narayan made special appearances, while ITanuja made a friendly appearance. Under this series today we have this beautiful ‘Sufi Qawwali’ composed by C.Arjun and which is written by none other than Sahir Ludhianvi for the movie ‘Nawaab Sahib-1978’. I have vague memories of watching this movie in late seventies or early eighties, but I do not remember much about this movie or its story line. The only memory of this movie that I had carried over in my growing years and thereafter was this song ‘Hum Mein Hai Kya Ke Hamen Koi Haseena Chaahe’ sung by Mohd Rafi.

Here is a song from Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. It is written by Anjaan and Kalyanji Anandji are the music directors. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle, Mahendra Kapoor and Lata Mangeshkar.
This movie had great songs. All Eight of them. But a lousy story line (I can see a whole lot of Atulites chuckling right Rajaji?)

Yesterday (27 april 2017), sometime around noon, I got to hear the very sad news that Vinod Khanna had passed away.
I had logged onto Twitter for a bit – and immediately saw a tweet saying “One of the most handsome actors of Hindi movies. RIP”. My heart sank. Soon it was clear that the person being discussed, and now trending as a hashtag, was our own beloved Vinod Khanna.
Recently a picture of Vinod Khanna had been circulating on social media. It shocked many (including myself) as it showed him in a very frail condition. I, for one, was not even aware that he was ailing. But nowadays, with advances in medical science, you tend to expect recovery, especially for someone barely 70.
It was not to be.
The end was therefore unexpected for me – and I think, for many.
