Today 8th September is eighty-seventh birth anniversary (born on 8th September’1933) of Asha Bhonsle. On this occasion as we wish her a very ‘happy birthday’ today and a healthy and peaceful life ahead, we are also going to enjoy a song sung by her.
This melodious song is from a lesser known movie ‘Jaadui Angoothhi-1964’.
‘Jaadui Angoothhi-1964’ alias ‘Magic Ring’ was directed by A.M. Khan for ‘A.M. Khan Productions, Bombay’. It had Chitra, Manhar Desai, Sheri, Krishnakumari, S.K. Shyam, Anil Kashmiri, Jilani, Uma Khosla, Violet, Ameerbai Karnataki, Sujata, Saroj, Sabina, Balwant Sharma, Kallan, Bagla, Chaman, Deva Kumari, Kanta Kumari and Polsan and others.

S. Mohinder (8/09/1925-6/9/2020) : A tribute
————————————————–
Just as I was preparing this post for the birth anniversaries of both S. Mohinder and Asha Bhosle, comes the news demise of S. Mohinder. As I don’t know much about the music director, I was looking up on Google for basic information if it is available. I found the sad news and this news item.
S. Mohinder, among the last of the musicians of the 40’s, was born in Punjab on 8th September, 1925. The end has come just two days before he was to turn 95.

Hullo Atuldom
We are into the last four months of the year. Just got the first positive message “Sab theek raha toh iss baar 31 December ko nayaa saal aane ki nahi, purana saal jaane ki party karenge”. (Wish I could write this in Devnagari) I am sure I need not translate this.
Just as I was sitting to write this our Peevesie messaged that “Josef-Born in Grace”, a movie that was her first independent assignment as costume designer, has won an award at the Madrid International Film Festival for Best Set Design at the awards function on Sunday evening (6th September). Incidentally that movie also got her, her life-partner and is from her in-law’s production house.
In a celebratory mood I asked her for her farmaish of an Asha Bhonsle song and today’s song is her choice. She has a love for that movie, its songs and the dress/costume (in particular) that Amisha Patel wore in the song. She reminds me that as a tiny-little girl she had also worn a similar Pink Skirt and White Top.

This date ten years ago (viz 5 september 2010) saw business as usual in the blog. Six songs from six movies were discussed chronologically in the order in which these movies were released.
Here are the details:-
| Song | Movie title-Year | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| Mat bolo bahaar ki batiyaan re | Prem Nagar-1940 | 11 songs covered out of 13 |
| Udan khatole pe ud jaaun | Anmol Ghadi-1946 | All songs covered |
| Aadmi gareeb ho ya ameer ho … sambhaalo dil zaraa | Dil Bhi Tera Ham Bhi Tere-1960 | All songs covered |
| Begaani shaadi mein Abdullah deewaanaa | Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai-1960 | All songs covered |

| Sansaar ki har shai ka itna hi fasaanaa hai | Dhundh-1973 | All songs covered |
One can see that “Prem Nagar”(1940) and “Sikandar e Azam”(1965) are the only two movies from that day which still have a few songs left to be covered. “Prem Nagar”(1940) balance songs are not available, so that leaves us with “Sikandar e Azam”(1965) as the only movie eligible for the “Blg Ten Year Challenge” today ten years later on 5 september 2020.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 69
———————————————————————————–
Ten years ago, the blog was covering six songs every day and seven songs every fourth day. So I was a bit surprised to note that “only” five songs were covered on 3 September 2010. But there awsa very good reasohn for that, which will become clear during our discussion here.
Here is the list of the five songs that were covered on 3n september 2010:-
| Blog post no | Song | Movie-Year | remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2896 | Ab to aa jaao balam | Poonam 1952 | YIPPEED |
| 2897 | Kaare badraa tu na jaa na jaa | Shikast 1953 | YIPPEED |
| 2898 | Ye jawaani ye haseen raat Khuda khair kare | Khoobsoorat Dhokha 1959 | 4 Songs discussed out of 7 |
| 2899 | Saamne ye kaun aayaa dil mein huyi halchal | Jawaani Deewaani 1972 | YIPPEED |
| 2900 | Kyaa huaa teraa waadaa wo qasam wo iraadaa | Hum Kisise Kam Nahin 1977 | Blog century post. 7 songs discussed (out of 9) |
We can see from the above that three out of five movies that were taken up on 3 september 2010 have got YIPPEED in the bblog by now. So that leaves us with just two movies that are eligible for “Blog Ten Year CHallenge” today (3 September 2020).

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 100 #
———————————————-
I got my first copy of HFGK in February’2015. After going through this ‘geet-kosh’ and movie details, I planned to take up this series. My aim was to introduce movies of this decade of seventies i.e. 1971-1980. It also offered me the opportunity of sharing my ‘nostalgia’ associated with the movies of this decade. Some of these movies were seen by me while others were not.
