19 July is a special day for the blog. It was on this day in 2008 that the blog went online with its first post, namely Mile na phool to kaanton se dosti kar li . That was the only post of the day, befitting the name of the blog “Atul Song A Day”. Discussing one song daily was the original idea and the blog stuck to it for 40 days. after that, the blog began to cover more than one song daily. It became “Atul Many Songs A Day”. On some occasions, as many as 12 and even 13 songs were covered in one day. Some exasperated subscribers of the blog complained that they were song lovers, but not that hardcore song lovers that they could handle one song notification in their e mail almost every hour of the day. 🙂

By the time the Blog entered its ‘Teens’, it was already a famous and well known centre for rare songs with lyrics and credible information on the song, MD, Lyricists,the cast of that film and the related matters. Today it can proudly boast of being “The Point Of Reference” for dependable anecdotes, confirmations and detailed bios of less known/unknown old film artistes. The credit for all this goes to just one man, who single handedly managed and made this Blog a well known name in Cyberspace. It is our dear leader ATUL ji. Atul ji,thanks for making this Blog available for showcasing our information-wares to the world.

Regulars may have noticed lack of activity in the blog on my part for the last ten odd days. From June 25 till June 28, 7 posts were published and all these articles were posted by Sudhir jee. I had specifically requested him on 24 June 2022 that “it will be difficult for me to find time for publishing new posts from 24 june till 27 June. So I request you to uphold the blog flag for these four days.”
Sudhir jee had promised to do the needful, viz ensuring that we had at least one post on each of these days. He ended up publishing four posts on 27 June 2022, prompted by an over-enthusiastic Avinash Scrapwala, who sent many RD Burman write ups on that day for publication. 🙂

Hullo Atuldom
Introducing “Tridev” (1989) on the blog with a song that was lost in the shadow of a more popular song of this movie. Both the songs have similar sounds at the beginning but the tune, the setting, words all are different. In fact “Tridev” had three songs that started with “oye oye”. Then the popular song went on as “Tirchhi topiwaale” and it had a version which was slower in tempo and can be labelled ‘sad version’. The song with this post went on as “gajar ne kiya hai ishaara” which was the song just before the climax. It had the three heroines doing a “jab tak hai jaan, jaane jahaan” kind of dance.

Hullo Atuldom
‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ (RHTDM – 2001) was produced by Vashu Bhagnani and directed by Gautam Vasudev Menon. It was either a remake or made along side Gautam Vasudev Menon’s Tamil ‘Minnale’. ‘Minnale’ released in February and RHTDM released in October 2001. Both the versions had R Madhavan play the lead, music was by Harris Jayaraj (I think both the movies were the composers’ debut in the respective languages).
