Hullo Atuldom
3rd Sunday of June is celebrated as Father’s Day and yesterday (19th June) was Father’s Day this year. The day is meant to honor Fatherhood and Paternal Bonds as well as the influence of fathers in society. In the USA, father’s day was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd, and celebrated on the third Sunday of June, for the first time, in 1910. The day is held across the world on various dates and different regions have their own traditions of honoring Fatherhood.

This day Ten years ago viz 19th June’2012 saw the following songs getting posted on the blog:-
| Song | Movie title(Year) | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| Chaand ghatne lagaa raat dhalne lagi | Shart(1954) | All songs covered |
| Muhabbat dil ke bas itne se afsaane ko kehte hain | Mangu(1954) | 06 of 07 songs posted |
| Saajan tumse pyaar karoon main | Badnaam(952) | 05 of 08 songs posted |
| Meri zindagi ke hamsafar | Shrimati 420(1956) | 08 of 09 songs posted |
We can see from the above table that out of the four movies represented on this day ten years back, only one movie ‘Shart-1954’ have been able to cover all its songs on the blog. That means we have three movies viz. ‘Mangu-1954’, ‘Badnaam-1952’ and ‘Shrimati 420’ eligible for a posting a song from them today on the blog.

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Kabhi Ajnabi Thhe’ (1984).
One song from this movie has been posted on the blog by our Respected Sadanand ji, – “Dil Ki Is Dehleez Tak Jo Mehmaan Ban Ke Aaye“. In his write up Sadanand ji has mentioned “Indian cricket and Bollywood both enjoy enormous popularity among Indians”. Yes! Very rightly said by him and this has the case been with most of our country-men and particularly people like me who have grown up in the ‘seventies’. We loved movies and cricket at the same level and they have been an integral part of our ‘life’s journey’.

POST NO. 1100 !!!!
Today, I have mixed feelings in my mind. One way, I am happy that I am posting my 1,100th article here and on the other way, I am wondering how did I achieve this all? My first post came up here on 1-10-2012, though I had been posting my comments on the Blog’s other posts since the end of 2010. That time I had not even dreamt that I would ever write 1100 articles here or that I would remain connected with this Blog for almost 10 years continuously.

Today’s song is from the film ‘Kismat Palat Ke Dekh’ (1961).
Generally, I like to write on films from the 30’s to the 50’s decade, which is my comfort zone. I feel homely and on friendly ground when I write about those old films. Films after 1960 are NOT a ‘ NO- NO ‘ for me, but unless I find either the film or the song interesting, I normally do not choose that song. That way and to allay any misunderstanding in our readers’ minds, let me stress here that I have written more than 200 posts on films from 1960 to 2013 also. Actually since there is still so much scope in the first 3 decades of talkie films, turning to the films of 60+ songs is not that common.

Mega milestone.
Mega event.
And a Mega Rare song being discovered.
Given the age of online proliferation and sharing, it is a great event that one chances to discover a film song that one does not even begin to imagine may even exist.
Of course yes, the song is identified and listed in the Geet Kosh. But as is the case with the majority of the listed songs in the 1931-40 volume of Geet Kosh (Volume I), we do not even pause to glance at the list of songs on page after page, unless we come across a fuller body of description for a film of that era. And verily so. Out of the close to 9,900 hundred songs listed for 930+ films that are slated for that decade, sadly enough, less than 1,200 are actually available at this time. That is the state of affairs we have at this time.

Today’s song is from the film Gaali-1944.
When I saw the title of this film, I was stunned. I could not ever imagine that such a movie title could be given. I was wondering as to what must be there in the movie- a Gaali competition between 2 groups or is it about a person who can not speak a single sentence without including a gaali in it ? I could not fathom a reason for titling a film like this. Later in the early 50’s, I got a chance to see this film and I was totally and completely disappointed. Even after seeing the film I did not get answers to my original question. The story of the film was meaningless indeed.

Hullo Atuldom
“Maine Pyaar Kiya” (MPK 1989) was from the Rajshri Productions stable. It was directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya, story by S.M.Ahale, and screenplay and dialogues were by Sooraj Barjatya. Asad Bhopali and Dev Kohli were the lyricists. Vijay Patil (a.k.a Raamlaxman) was the music director. Bhagyashree made her debut in this movie and it was Salman Khan’s first as a hero (he was present in “Biwi Ho To Aisi” in a supporting role before this). Aloknath, Rajeev Verma, Mohnish Behl, Reema Lagoo, Ajeet Vachani, Harish Patel, Huma Khan, Dilip Joshi, and Laxmikant Berde formed the supporting cast. There was a ‘homing pigeon’ too in the cast.

Today’s song is from the film Phool-1945.
The film was directed by K.Asif. I think there will not be a single person in India where Hindi is understood and spoken, who has either not seen or has not heard about the film and k.Asif, its maker. Though Asif was only its director, the film was his dream for 15 years and he had spent the best years of his life dreaming, shaping, planning and making this film.
