Hullo to all of Atuldom
Let me start by wishing all you readers a very Happy New Year. I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful 2019, with a lot of happiness, good health and success in whatever you wish to achieve.
Today is the 2nd of January and our Anniversary Page tells me it is the birth anniversary of Sadashiv Amrapurkar, and the death anniversary of David.
But neither of these is the subject of my post today.
Absolutely no disrespect to them, but today’s post is about a couple of other persons who also happen to have their birthday today.

I in this blog often talk about “natural” landmarks and “artificial” landmarks for the blog. “Natutral” landmaks for the blog are those that are intuitive, viz. century of songs in the blog, and later century of songs in the blog for an artist, a contributor etc.
Later, when we began to keep track of blog related statistics, we became aware when a duo of singers completed their century of duet songs, or the blog itself completed a century (or its multiple) of days.
Many of these “artificial” (more accurately “derived” or “secondary”) landmarks went unnoticed in the early days of the blog. For instance, we completed several hundred days and also thousand days in the blog but we remain blissfully unaware. In fact, the level of blissful unawareness was such that we did not even notice it when the blog completed one year of its existence on 19 july 2009. 🙂
We have come a long way since.

ASAD 10th Anniversary Celebrations – 20

And now, continuing the saga of the 10th anniversary celebrations. 🙂
First off, thanks to Mahesh ji for announcement that “The last batsman is in”. Quite true, and well, almost. One reason (of the many excuses that I am going to converse about today 🙂 ), is that, quite truly, I was waiting for at least one more contribution to land in, before I announce the closure of celebrations. But as the events transpired, I realized that waiting for that article would probably be like waiting for Mr. Godot.

Some achievements boggle your mind. A few years ago it was 10k song and now its 10 years of this blog. Maybe I should say it bloggles my mind! Terrible puns aside, I apologize for this delayed write up. Some incidents over the last weekend, caused me to tragically lose my phone, and after a remote data erase, miraculously find it again. It felt like a Hindi film honestly, one I would have titled ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ if there hadn’t already been one by that name.

Hullo Atuldom
The song with this post is a Peevesie discovery. I don’t remember when exactly, but definitely a few years back she mentioned about this song to me. And it looks like she has seen and enjoyed the video too and it has stayed in her memory. She remembered exactly how the song starts. And the dance steps of Govinda and Madhuri. Awesome combination. Just like in the previous Madhuri Dixit song where with Prabhu Deva as her co-dancer, here too, she is excellent. She is in a different orbit when she has a dancer for a co-actor. In “Que serasera” she matched Prabhu Deva step for step, here it is a typically Govinda dance that is a treat.

The film ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ is an intense personal favorite, as are many of Vijay Anand’s films. This film is a very sensitive, rational and balanced view of the healthcare systems in our country, especially in the rural areas. Of course, the time frame is of 1960s (the film released in 1971). The medical profession and healthcare systems have seen unbelievable transformations, especially the brazen and vulgar commercialization of this profession, that was once considered a hallowed service of the people. But maybe more of that later.
I like this film, in all its aspects. I know when this film was released, there were many articles in magazines and newspapers, trying to find and point out technical and medical faults with the film’s many medical scenarios. It was like pointing out the defects in a mango, that one is no doubt enjoying, but still complaining that the skin of the mango is too thick or too thin. 🙂 My counter to this discussion was – please, hold on, this is a film, a dramatization of human situations. The director is trying to tell a story, about a very important profession in the society, attempting to exhibit certain ground realities, and also trying to suggest some approaches. It is not a treatise on anatomy or cardiology, that should be scientifically perfect, but does not tell a story.

Today is a very special day for all HFM lovers. It is the birth anniversary of one of the most beloved of artistes, and one of the greatest and most respected. I am, of course, talking about the one and only Rafi Saab.
Had he been alive today, he would have completed 93 years. But as fate would have it, he left us in 1980 itself, when he was barely 55. One does not have control over these matters – one can only have fond memories of the person concerned, and enjoy the rich legacy that he or she has left behind.
And WHAT A LEGACY Rafisaab has left behind!

This post is the 13600th post, 600th song of Sahir Ludhianvi and 1100th post of Sudhir Jee in the blog.
One more song that I can’t believe has not yet been included in the annals of our blog. Such a melodious, lilting and fast paced lovable song. It used to be aired on the radio quite regularly, and was one of the listening favorites. The vintage is 1964, and so quite well still retained in the memory. As I started to search for a Sahir song for this post today, I was not quite satisfied with some of the ones that showed up as possible candidates. You see, as we progress and post more songs, and the artist counts starts to close in to their total no. of songs, then in all likelihood, the better ones, the favorite ones are mostly accounted for on the blog. So if one is looking for a favorite song as a representative work of an artist, it becomes quite an effort to locate one.
