In this article, I am presenting a song, ‘suno aye duniyawaalon ek naya paighaam laaya hoon’ from an incomplete film, ‘Naya Mandir’ (1961). It was directed by Kishore Sahu. It had Manoj Kumar, Mala Sinha and Mehmood in main roles. I came to know of this song on the audio album of ‘Film Hi Film’ (1983). Unfortunately, this song seems to have been deleted from the VCD of the film available on one of the video sharing platforms. Since video clip of the song is available in continuation of the scene from ‘Film Hi Film. (1983), it can be construed that the song was included in the film.
Shahab Ahmed, the producer of ‘Film Hi Film’ (1983) had earlier produced ‘Cinema Cinema’ (1979). During his visit to Bombay Film Laboratory, he was astonished to see cans of more than 2000 unfinished films lying in the laboratory. Shahab Ahmed thought that a lot of efforts had gone into making these films which unfortunately remained incomplete for various reasons. So, he came with the idea of incorporating scenes and songs from a few select incomplete films to make a full-length feature film [Source: ‘…and Pran’ (2005) by Bunny Rueben].

As it is, Blog century is a regular and recurring destination for the blog. after we arrive at a blog century, we do not take a pause rather keep continuing to cover more and more songs in the blog and before we realise, we are staring at the next blog century.
This has taught me a lesson that When you do not worry about the destination then you reach your destination almost painlessly and unnoticeably. When one thinks about it, one realises that we have had as many as 196 blog centuries already and now we are only blog century number 197, viz blog song post number 19700.
This blog century has been reached in 26 days, which appears quite a good pace for the blog at present. We cannot compare this rate from the last decade when we were clocking centuries in 16 days but then we were one decade younger at that time and we had far more energy.

Today’s song is a duet from the Mythological film – Veer Arjun-1952.
The film was produced by Ratilal Punatar ( he was the nephew of Sardar Chandulal Shah of Ranjit Movietone), for his own banner Ajit Pictures ( Ajit was his son’s name). The film was directed by Ramchandra Thakur ( highly educated, originally from Sagar Movietone). 6 songs of this film were composed by Avinash Vyas while one song was composed by S.Mohinder- who made G.M.Durrani sing, probably his life’s only bhajan in this film !

‘Main Hoon Alladin’ (1965) was produced by K N Sippy and was directed by Mohmmed Hussain. The cast included Ajit, Saeeda Khan, Madan Puri, Maruti, David, Amar, Jagirdar, Sham Kumar, Ratnamala, Mumtaz Begum, Munshi Munaka, Mulchand, Khalil, Nazir Kashmiri, Habib and others. The film was based on ‘Arabian Nights’ stories and belongs to ‘costume and fantasy’ genre.
The film is available in the VCR format. Though the film is in colour, the quality of both video and audio is not up to the mark. There appears to be some deletion of scenes at a few places as the story does not give a feel of a smooth changeover. As it is, the story of the film itself appears to be an amalgam of sub-plots. The first part mostly covers the character around Alladin and his love interest, Salma while the second part mostly gives the impression of a repeat of the fairytales of ‘Alladin and the Wonderful Lamp’. Still, the film is interesting to watch and all the songs are melodious.

A R Rahman – The Musician of 21st Century – 7
The revival of the series on A. R. Rehman is beginning with this post. The last post in the series was this song.
I apologise for my tardiness in leaving the series like this for 2.5 years. None but myself to be blamed for not taking the targets/tasks seriously. Maybe that is the reason none of my series appear in the list of series posted in the blog.
Koyi nai, I plough on doggedly. Not that it is a hard task to find ARR gems, sometimes forgotten in decades old fog. Take the songs of “Saathiya” for instance.

‘Main Wohi Hoon’ (1966) was produced by S A Mehmood and was directed by A Shamsheer. The cast included Feroz Khan, Kumkum, I S Johar, Madan Puri, Murad, Roopesh Kumar, Bela Bose, Lata Sinha, Mirza Musharraf etc. The film was a murder mystery.
I have watched the film for the first time only recently after reading the synopsis of the film’s story which appeared to be an interesting murder mystery. A sole daughter of a wealthy father wants to marry a middle-class man. The father has some apprehension because he has two other suitors for his daughter who are rich. But the daughter is adamant to marry her preferred man. Finally, the father has made his mind to go with his daughter’s preference but she is yet to be told of his decision. All the three suitors attend daughter’s birthday bash. Soon, the father is murdered by an unknown assailant. The main suspects are the three suitors who have met the father in the birthday bash and have indirect interest in his wealth if Asha becomes their prospective bride.
