Today’s song is from a film ‘Paaro’ (1947), made during the turmoil of Independence of India. By early 1947, it was clear that India would be divided and a new nation, based on religion, would be carved out by bifurcating United India. The name Pakistan was also known to everyone.

The story in one line is thus- a reluctant educated son ascending a throne full of thorns. This movie was remade in Hindi in 1997 by Mushir-Riaz produtions with Priyadarshan as the director. Here the cast was headed by Anil Kapoor and Amrish Puri with Milind Gunaji, Tabu and Pooja Batra. Both movies credited Kamal Hssan as the storywriter.

The song with this post is a Peevesie discovery. I don’t remember when exactly, but definitely a few years back she mentioned about this song to me. And it looks like she has seen and enjoyed the video too and it has stayed in her memory. She remembered exactly how the song starts. And the dance steps of Govinda and Madhuri. Awesome combination. Just like in the previous Madhuri Dixit song where with Prabhu Deva as her co-dancer, here too, she is excellent. She is in a different orbit when she has a dancer for a co-actor. In “Que serasera” she matched Prabhu Deva step for step, here it is a typically Govinda dance that is a treat.

Missing Films of 1960s – 76
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Hindi cinema encompasses quite a few genres and categories. It is a sad statement that the industry has almost always been controlled and driven more by the financial expectations. The earliest model of large studios as centers of film production activities, was somewhat immune to the craziness of financial pressures. The studio system had its own cons, but it provided a larger stability and sustainability to the production effort and to the team belonging to the studio.

Today’s song is from a really unknown and unheard of film of the early era – ‘Fauladi Mukka’ (1936).

So far 3 films with this title are made in Hindi. The other two films were made in 1965 and 1985. The 1965 movie was a regular C grade action stunt movie of actor Aazad and the 1985 movie was a Tamil film dubbed in Hindi. It starred Rajinikant. I call him a sophisticated stunt actor, although he is known to have worked in serious social films too. But generally, in the world beyond Tamilnadu, Rajinikant is equivalent to unimaginable, logic-basher, nature-defying stunts which make you not only wonder but also bring you a smile.

In 1940, a film by the name ‘Thief Of Tatar’ was released. Then in 1955 came another film titled ‘Tatar Ka Chor’. And after another 13 years, in 1968, came the film ‘Tatar Ki Haseena’. Just like the ‘Alibaba’ of Arbian Nights and the ‘Thief Of Baghdad’, the Tatar subject also seemed to hold a special interest for Hindi film makers for some time.

With this song, we bring the 14th Tarzan film to our blog.  Searching in the Geet Kosh, we find 15 Tarzan films. Adding the one film from 1987, which is represented on our blog, it makes 16 Tarzan films that we are aware of. Of these, 13 films are already represented on our blog with at least one song each. With this 14th incarnation, Tarzan now arrives in Fairlyland. The alternate title of this film in Hindi is listed as ‘टारज़न परिस्तान में’.

Since this is a song blog so it is natural that I visit song sites viz YT etc daily. I had vaguely noticed a video about a movie called “Parmanu” in the past in YT and I had not taken much notice, seeing that I am not interested in new movies.

Three days ago (friday), I saw that video again. I got interested and clicked on that link. I found that it was the trailer of the movie. From the trailer I found that this movie was based on the tale of Indian nuclear tests carried out in 1998. The trailer also mentioned that the movie was releasing on 25 may 2018.
