Hullo to all of Atuldom
Welcome to a post which will get a reaction of “Yeh gaana baaki hai???” And I am sure Atulji will put this song under the category “How did I forget to post this song earlier?”.
In the 70s, and for all the 43 years since, this song has been extremely popular. It is a love song where the young couple meet on the sly, in the middle of the night. It was sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar for a sweet seventeen Neetu Singh and a handsome/ charming 23-year-old Rishi Kapoor. It had very simple choreography by PL Raj that made the pair look very adorable. It was written by Gulshan Bawra and set to tune by our today’s birthday boy.

There will hardly be a person who has not seen film Mughal E Azam or heard about it. The film was famous and the man who made it – K.Asif – became known to all because of this film. However, K.Asif was not a prolific film maker. In reality, K.Asif (14-6-1922 to 9-3-1971) directed only two and half films. His first film was Phool-45, second was Mughal E Azam-60 and his last attempt was the unfinished film Love and God ( aka Kaiz and Laila)-1986. This film was released as an unfinished film by his kins on 27-5-1986, 15 years after K.Asif died. Asif had produced a film, ‘Hulchul-51’, but he did not direct it.

Today’s song is from film ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ (1955).
In one of his earliest posts, Atul ji had said that the Indian people like to talk about 3 things – politics, films and cricket. The film ‘Shart’ from 1954 made its debut on the blog with the iconic “Naa Ye Chaand Hogaa Na Taare Rahenge”. In terms of completion, the films ‘Shart’ and ‘Ganga Jamuna’ have been yippeee’d already. The remaining songs of the rest of the three films are waiting in the wings.

Yesterday (2 june 2019) was Sunday. I for some reason thought that there was lots of time available with me and so I would do things that I had not done for ages. Sunday morning is the day when DD national presents ‘Rangoli’.
I used to be a regular watcher of this programme when I was based at Bilaspur. That was four to seven years ago. I have rarely watched this programme since.
