Nautanki (Indian Opera or Ballad) is one of the major forms of Hindi theatre which has been in vogue for over 200 years as a popular form of entertainment in the rural and semi-urban area in some parts of North India. It is believed that Nautanki originated around the present day Mathura-Vrindavan-Hathras regions in Uttar Pradesh in the forms of Raas leela, Swaang etc. Over a period of time, it become popular in Braj speaking areas such as eastern Rajasthan (Khayal, similar to Nautanki) and Northern Madhya Pradesh which are closed to the border of the western Uttar Pradesh. Later its influence got extended in the Awadh region of Uttar Pradesh and some parts of Bihar.

Hullo to all of Atuldom

Let me start by wishing all you readers a very Happy New Year. I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful 2019, with a lot of happiness, good health and success in whatever you wish to achieve.

Today is the 2nd of January and our Anniversary Page tells me it is the birth anniversary of Sadashiv Amrapurkar, and the death anniversary of David.

But neither of these is the subject of my post today.

Absolutely no disrespect to them, but today’s post is about a couple of other persons who also happen to have their birthday today.

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 76# Memories of the Seventies – Composer Rajesh Roshan #
————————————————————————————————–———————-

Welcome all and wishing all a very Happy New Year 2019!!!

May this New Year bring us all peace, prosperity, good health, and growth of our country in all areas which are concerned with the ‘common man’ and which helps to improve the ‘quality of life’ and ‘quality of living’ for the people of this country.

Within few months general elections for the parliament will also be held and people will get a chance to vote for their ‘fate’ and ‘fate’ of the country.

Let ‘positivity’ prevails and let the ‘truth’ triumphs over ‘misleading negativity’ and ‘social evils’ that are still a ‘threat’ for the ‘unity’ and ‘overall development’ of this country.

***

On the beginning of every year I always think that I should share a song which has celebration, a message in it and it should be motivational and/or inspirational too. And the better if it is a group song or having ‘chorus singing’ in it, to give it a sense of ‘collective spirit’ and ‘team spirit’ 🙂

Welcome to today’s post (albeit one day late) under this series. Today’s post under this series is coming after a long gap of almost two years, though in between I had written two articles on Rajesh Khanna’s anniversaries.

29th December 2018 is the 76th birth anniversary of Rajesh Khanna (29.12.1942-18.07.2012).

Hullo to all of Atuldom

I seem to be running short of time daily. And I have missed many dates in the month of DECEMBER for which I would have loved to atleast write out the lyrics and send it to Atulji for appropriate posts. Birthdates of Shatrughan Sinha, Dilip Kumar, Rajnikant, Raj Kapoor, Om Prakash, Govinda, Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan etc. I even had songs of Suresh Oberoi, Mahipal, John Abraham ready in my head. Atulji surprised me by nearly missing Mohd. Rafi’s birthdate, but trust the eternal Rafi Bhakts in our group to send in posts on time and remind Atulji (he always tells that he is bad at remembering dates 🙂 🙂 ).

Today, the December 25, 2018 is the Remembrance Day of music Director, Eric Roberts akka Vinod (22/05/1922 – 25/12/1959) who left for the heavenly abode on this day of 1959 at a prime age of 37. Vinod has been one of my favourite music directors who mostly followed the ‘Punjabi Ang’ of music, introduced in Hindi films by Pandit Amarnath. He composed top class melodies in Hindi and Punjabi films. His musical career started with ‘Khamosh Nighaaen’ (1946) and composed music for 28 Hindi films till his death in 1959.
