Yesterday, 25th June was the birthday of actor Raghuveer Yadav and we wish him a very happy birthday and a healthy and peaceful life ahead. (In the anniversary list on our blog his birth date is mentioned as Jan 1st, however almost all of the internet sites that I came across during search for his biography have mentioned 25th June’1957 as his date of birth. So now I only have doubt about the year of his birth if it is correct, the reason is mentioned in the write up below.

Today’s song is from a film ‘Paaro’ (1947), made during the turmoil of Independence of India. By early 1947, it was clear that India would be divided and a new nation, based on religion, would be carved out by bifurcating United India. The name Pakistan was also known to everyone.

Greetings to dear Atul ji, and best wishes for many many happy returns of today.

The 1977 film ‘Chhaila Baabu’ is joining the ‘Yippeee Club’ of movies or ‘movies having all their songs covered’ on the blog. Indeed, a long wait for me and particularly for this song which was the first that I shared when I was still only a ‘year-old’ contributor on the blog. Other songs of this movie which I shared later were lucky and got posted before the today’s song. This song is the one which I cannot forget since my childhood, may be because this being a ‘mother-son’ song. I must be 9-10 years old when I had watched this movie with my parents in my childhood.

Hullo Atuldom

The song with this post is a Peevesie discovery. I don’t remember when exactly, but definitely a few years back she mentioned about this song to me. And it looks like she has seen and enjoyed the video too and it has stayed in her memory. She remembered exactly how the song starts. And the dance steps of Govinda and Madhuri. Awesome combination. Just like in the previous Madhuri Dixit song where with Prabhu Deva as her co-dancer, here too, she is excellent. She is in a different orbit when she has a dancer for a co-actor. In “Que serasera” she matched Prabhu Deva step for step, here it is a typically Govinda dance that is a treat.

After completing the recording, Mukesh had commented – people will remember you for this song. He was talking to the music director, and was expressing his emotions having just rendered a beautiful composition. The music director – Daan Singh. The song – “Wo Tere Pyaar Ka Gham” (from the film ‘My Love’ (1970)). Prophetic words, in some ways, yes, because this song is still on the list of favorites of the lovers of this music. But does everyone remember Daan Singh in connection with this song – I am not sure.

Missing Films of 1960s – 76
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Hindi cinema encompasses quite a few genres and categories. It is a sad statement that the industry has almost always been controlled and driven more by the financial expectations. The earliest model of large studios as centers of film production activities, was somewhat immune to the craziness of financial pressures. The studio system had its own cons, but it provided a larger stability and sustainability to the production effort and to the team belonging to the studio.

Today’s episode features a wonderful breezy duet from the 1959 film ‘Naach Ghar’. This film is a social drama produced and directed by TS Tara, for the banner of Quality Pictures, Bombay. As the name suggests, the film has a theme that is built around a stage dance group, i.e. a nautanki group. It involves characters for whom dance and music is the drive in life; it also has others who would like to usurp and manipulate these passions for their own advantage; and then there are good hearted people who want to bring happiness to all. The cast of actors is very impressive – Ashok Kumar, Shobha Khote, Gopikrishan, Helen, Kamla Lakshman, Anoop Kumar, Dhumal, Iftikhar, Maya Das, Mirza Musharraf, Jamaal, Sujata, Bismillah, and Vivek.
