I think it is time to go back to the pavillion, meaning my comfort zone. Or I should say my favourite comfort zone of Rafi songs. I have been ‘ beating about the bush ‘ for the last one year and writing posts of various series. ‘Chandni raaten’ is still going on, as far as I know. Some songs are lined up for it, but I have not been able to find enough enthusiasm to write a post for some time. “Jahaan Pyaar Miley”(1969) was an LRT production movie. It had Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Nadira, Jeevan, Nazir Hussain, Helen, Zeb Rehman, Kumari Naaz, Anjali Kadam, Badri Prasad, Iftekhar, Kamal Kapoor, Sulochana, Narendranath, Pinchoo Kapoor etc in it.

And it is the true connoisseurs of this art that will delve into the deep to search out such gems. It is these connoisseurs that value the sounds of the voices such as Suman Kalyanpur.

CHANDAN KA PALNA (1967) was produced under the banner of Arzoo Films by Zaibunnisa Usman Ali and Khairunnisa Ismail Memon and was directed by Ismail Memon. Dhamendra and Meena Kumari were in lead roles supported by Mehmood, Mumtaz, Durga Khote, Dhumal, Nazir Hussain, Bipin Gupta, Shabnam, Mukri etc. In a way, the film was the home production of Mehmood. Producers Zaibunnisa Usman Ali was the wife of Mehmood’s younger brother Usman Ali while Khairunnisa Ismail Memon was his younger sister. The director of the film, Ismail Memon was his brother-in-law. Mehmood’s first wife Madhu was the sister of Meena Kumari.
