Hullo Atuldom
“Manpasand” (1980) was a Basu Chatterji directed, Amit Khanna produced (sweet) movie which was directly inspired by George Bernard Shaw’s ‘Pygmalion’.
We had Dev Anand playing the music teacher, Tina Munim playing his student & Girish Karnad playing Dev Anand’s friend who helps in grooming Kamli (the datoonwaali a.k.a Tina) into a High society girl. Leela Mishra, Mehmood, were in the main supporting cast. Jalal Agha, Simple Kapadia, Pilu Wadia etc were in guest appearances. Then we had Tarun Ghosh, Raj Kishore, Birbal, Sundar etc playing minor characters.

Its cast includes Asha Parekh, Jeetendra, Reena Roy, Om Shivpuri, Asrani, Dheeraj Kumar, Prema Narayan, Urmila Bhatt, Sayten Kappu, Manmohan Krishna, Manju Bansal, Pental, Dhumal, Raj Verma, Ashalata, Bhatnagar, Vikas Anand, Kanwar, Master Apurva, Dhanna, Renu, Jayshree T. It also has Rita Bhaduri and Kamal Kapoor in special appearance. This film was passed by censor board on 15.10.1976. Story of this film was written by A. Pundarikakshayyay, Screenplay was by L.V. Hullo Atuldom
“Suhaag” (1979) was a film produced by Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Shakti Subhash Sharma, Prakash Trehan and directed by Manmohan Desai. The story writer was Prayag Raj, K.K. Shukla was the screenplay writer & the dialogues carried the trademark of Kadar Khan – every dialogue in the film matched the mood that Manji (as Manmohan Desai was fondly addressed by his friends & admirers) envisioned for his films. Laxmikant-Pyarelal were the music directors for songs that were written by Anand Bakshi. Shailendra Singh, Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Anwar were the playback singers used for the songs. The song ‘main toh beghar hoon’ had Shashi Kapoor mouth a few words, hence he is also credited in the list of playback singers.
