Wishing all a very Happy 2024.
“Sanam Teri Kasam” (1982) was a film that was produced by Barkha Roy & directed by Narendra Bedi. It had music by RD Burman for songs written by Gulshan Bawra. The cast was headed by Reena Roy- Kamal Haasan- Kadar Khan with Jeevan, Ranjeet, Seema Deo, Jagdeep, Guddi Maruti, Birbal, Viju Khote, Raj Kishore, Bhagwandada, Mala Jaggi etc in the supporting cast. Mahesh Anand (who later married Barkha Roy) made his debut in this film, his dance moves were used in the title sequence. Kamal Kapoor had a guest appearance.

Today’s song is a gem of song which remained a lesser heard and lesser known song, which might be because it is from a movie few people are aware of. The title of the film is ‘Bedard’ which seems to be an obscure movie of its time. I like this song very much for its poetic value and the overall composition. it is sung by Bhupinder Singh and the song is composed by Kanti Kiran.
Hardly any information is available about the music composer Kanti Kiran, except that he had also composed music for the Hindi movie ‘Jhoom Uthhaa Aakaash-1973’. I had shared a few songs from this movie earlier here on the blog and liked them too.

(Birthday – Music Composer-Rajesh Roshan)
Today 24th May is the sixty-eighth birthday of music director-lyricist Rajesh Roshan(born on 24.05.1955). He is one of my favorite all time composer.
I had earlier written about him in a couple of my earlier posts on the blog. So I am not going to repeat all that here again. One thing I definitely write again is that Rajesh Roshan’s songs are part of the ‘big nostalgia’ of my growing years and may be many people like me are fond of him and
his compositions .

Raj Kapoor – the eternal seeker, the eternal explorer – in quest for the meaning of love equation between a man and a woman. All his life he produced films. This is the song, part of which is shot near to the Thajiwas glacier, near Sonamarg, Kashmir. This is the route going to Laddakh, travelling east of Srinagar. Further on this road falls Kargil area, about which many people have told me is much too beautiful to miss. Laddakh is a sight to behold too. I have missed both Laddakh and Kargil, but hope to visit in future, in-sha-Allah.

Today 13th Janunary’2023 is the ninety-seventh birth anniversary of yesteryears Director and Producer Shakti Samanta. He is known for his successful association with Rajesh Khanna-R.D. Burman-Anand Bakshi and other well-known actors like Shammi Kapoor and others.
Shakti Samanta was born on 13th January’1926 and he passed away on 9th April’2009.
He founded his banner ‘Shakti Films’ in 1957. He produced and directed many films under this banner.
