I had never heard of the film, ‘Ladies Tailor’ (1981). When I checked the cast, I could never imagined that Sanjeev Kumar was in the role of a ladies tailor. The film was produced and directed by Khalid Akhtar. The cast included Sanjeev Kumar, Reena Roy (in double role), Amjad Khan, Deven Verma, Pran, Aruna Irani, Bindu, Mukri, Raj Kishore, Urmila Bhatt, Manju Singh etc. Sharmila Tagore, Rekha, Moushumi Chatterjee and Parveen Babi appeared in cameo roles as themselves. “Sarkaari Mehmaan”(1978) is by now an obscure movie, but I was aware of this movie when it was released. Seeing that it was a non Amitabh Bachchan movie, I considered it a B grade movie, not worth my time. Nevertheless, I was not averse to watch a movie if I could get to watch it free. When I used to return back from college in the evening, I came down by walk, which had the added advantage that I came across most movie halls of Ranchi that were located on a single road called Main Road. The newest cinema hall, which also happened to be located closest to my residence was called Sujata Cinema. I found out that while one needed to buy tickets while the movie began, no one checked tickets after half time. So one could wait for the half time when movie watchers came out to buy peanuts, popcorn etc. When they went back inside, their tickets was not checked again. So it was possible to enter the hall in the second half and sit in a vacant seat and watch the second half of the movie. I was able to watch a few flop movies (with very few ticket buyers for them) this way. If my memory is not playing tricks, this movie “Sarkaari Mehmaan”(1978) was one such movie. I entered the movie hall after second half, watched the movie and left the hall after THE END along with other bonafide movie watchers who had the misfortune of buying tickets of this movie.

Hullo Atuldom

There is a saying “That Birds Of A Feather Flock” together.

This space in cyberworld that goes by the name “ATULSONGADAY.ME” is where some birds or lovers of music of the genre called “Film Sangeet” congregate. The main aim initially, was to appreciate the efforts of one man called Atul who got the idea of compiling songs which he thought were important to him & were from his ‘List of Favourites’.

He began the journey on 19th July 2008 with this post. It was a short post but gave absolutely accurate lyrics of a song written by Kaifi Azmi & composed by Roshan. There were 13 posts in that July, that is the blog lived up to its name of “SONGADAY”.

Today, 19 July 2024, is a special day for the blog. It was on this date 16 years ago that this blog had come into existence with its debut post “Miley Na Phool To Kaanton Se Dosti Kr Li” on 19 July 2008. We have come a long way in the blog from that small beginning. On this occasion, we will have quite a few posts today to celebrate the occasion. Keep watching this blog throughout the day.

Today 19th July’2024 is the sixteenth birthday anniversary of this wonderful blog. And this is a big occasion for us ‘likeminded music lovers’. This also call for a big ‘celebration’ today. I would like to thank our team member Mahesh ji who posted a message in the ‘WhatsApp group’ giving an ‘alert’ to all members for this occasion. It is not that I do not remember it, but sometimes we need reminders (as it is usual with me nowadays to forget ‘things’ and remembering it a bit later 🙂 , hotaa hai , hotaa hai …

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Memories of Binaca Geetmala – 1977)
——————————————-———————————————

Today’s song is from the ‘1977’ movie ‘Qasam Khoon Ki’ or ‘Kasam Khoon Ki’. This song stood at no. 37 in the ‘annual Binaca Geetmala’ of the year ‘1977’. That is the reason for this post here

Though this song figured in the Binaca geetmala final, I have no recollections of either the movie or this song. The other reason for ‘liking’the song is its lyrics that talks of bringing down the soaring price of gold. 🙂 . I have no idea if the suggestion made in this song can be used to bring down the price of gold. The main customer of gold, viz women too are unlikely to take the suggestion contained in the song any serious thought.
