Music is an irresistible thing. It energizes the soul and is a great stress buster. Indian film music especially is very enchanting and melodious to listen.
Years back, during the age of black and white movies, there was not much variety in music. If you listen to old Hindi songs, you will find almost the same beats. The music was simple, yet it was very melodious. Singers like Mohd Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Lata and Asha were simply outstanding and still their magic is alive.

Remembering Mohammed Rafi on his 42nd death anniversary.
This is the date, which brings me back from a brief hiatus.
Over the years we have been celebrating this anniversary with various contributors and writers pouring their own thought out about Rafi Sahab in innumerable posts in the blog.

Today 19th of July 2022 we celebrate the birthday of this blog. Regulars on the blog are aware that this blog was started on 19th of July 2008. So, today the blog celebrates its’ fifteenth birthday.
Normally on this occasion we enjoy birthday songs, ‘saalgirah’ songs, ‘party’ songs, or sometimes ‘bringing memories back’ songs or songs that are filled with ‘nostalgia’ as I have shared them earlier on the birthday of the blog.
But, today, I am approaching this post differently and I will not repeat what I have earlier said about the blog and my love for this blog and how this blog has become a part of my life since I become associated with it.

Hullo Atuldom
19th July- our blog turns an year older. I have been writing for the occasion for a few years now. (Think the habit set-in in 2015 or 2016). But I seem to have missed writing a post in 2021. Here is my post from 2020. Whatever I have said in that post still holds true for me.
I am still thankful that I discovered the blog and thankful that Atulji gave us this platform where novices like me have a place to post our thoughts. Thankful that Atulsongaday gave me a new set of HFM loving friends who have a wealth of information which has enriched us. There are some among the regulars who I have met a few times and some whom I have never met – Atulji included. Let us hope we have a grand party where all Atulites and Satulites congregate. As Rajaji has said in the comments to my post (on 19th July 2020), and I quote “We all might have got onto this journey at different stations but it has been a wonderful journey, with lots of memories and shared experiences.”

Welcome all to this post under ‘blog ten year challenge 2012-2022’.
Ten years back on this day i.e. 03rd July’2012, as many as seven songs from seven different movies were covered on the blog.
The details of these songs are as given below:-
| Song Title | Name of the movie (Year) | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| Aise machal ke nain badal ke | Do Gunde(1959) | Movie Yippeeee’ed by now |
| Phoolon se dosti hai | Duniya Jhukti Hai(1960) | 2 of 8 songs posted |
| Chadhe chanda to tum bhi chale aana | Aplam Chaplam(1961) | 3 of 7 songs posted |
| Dhaley din aise | Laal Kothi(1978) | 1 of 4 songs posted |
| Kaa jaanoon main sajaniyaa | Hum Paanch(1980) | 3 of 6 songs posted |
| Jaan e jaan dhoondhta phir rahaa | Jawaani Deewaani(1972) | Movie Yippeeee’ed by now |
| Dil ki baat kahin lab pe na aa jaaye | Teri Qasam(1982) | 1 of 6 songs posted |
From the above table we can see that only two movies out of seven movies represented on the blog on that day have since been ‘Yippeeee’ed on the blog.

Hullo Atuldom
Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia was born on 1st July 1938 to a father who wanted the son to be a wrestler. The obedient son did go to the Akhada and trained with his father along with learning music and practising at a friend’s home.
Pt. Hariji has said once, and I quote, “he was not very good at wrestling but the training had helped him build up strength and stamina which has helped him play the bansuri (flute) to this day.”
