Hullo to all Atulites
Morning times are the times when people generally listen to Bhajans and Pravachans and I am no different. Till a few years back my mornings used to begin with switching on the radio to Vividh Bharati or Radio Ceylon and music used to play through the day. Then the FM channels took over and there used to be a Channel Switching (or changing if I may say) exercise in between the various radio programmes and my own work activities. To add to the confusion, suddenly, TV went 24 hours along with giving us a bouquet of music channels to listen to. And then what happens to a music Buff like me? It was and is the biggest distraction for me especially during working hours.

When I was in school, I did not see a single movie in a movie hall for six years. It was more by compulsion rather than by choice, of course. My elders would neither go to movie halls themselves nor take me. Watching movies spoil children and their future would be spoilt for ever- that was the rationalisation they gave to everyone who would listen. And my movie deprivation era (1972- 1978) were the prime era for Hindi movie watchers. 🙂

Greetings and best wishes to all readers for the festival of Raksha Bandhan today.
This song is from the 1985 film ‘Ghar Dwaar’. The film is produced by Mohan ji Prasad and SK Jain, and is directed by Kalptaru. The star cast of this film is impressive and includes Shriram Lagoo, Tanuja, Sachin, Raj Kiran, Shoma Anand, Kadar Khan, Ashok Saraf, Ashalata etc. The music for this film is composed by Chitragupt. Checking through the available articles on Chitragupt ji, he passed away in 1991. This film could well be one of the last films that he composed for. I am unable to locate the name of the lyricist, and would request other knowledgeable readers to please add this information.

“Baalika Badhu” (1976) which means “Child Bride” was a remake of a Bangla movie of the same name which was made in 1950s and where Mausami Chatterji had played the title role. Mausami Chatterji, after looking at Rajni Sharma felt that Rajni Sharma looked much more immature (and thus more suitable) for the role of the child bride.
