Hullo Atuldom
At the outset I would like to wish the blog & the Brain behind the blog on completion of 20000 posts, with this special post by Sudhirji. It was a song from 1931 film, just like the song with post number 10000.
I clearly remember the wait for the post number 10000, it was the rainy season of 2014 – July 20th, 2014 to be precise; a day after the blog’s sthapana diwas.
Congratulations to Atulji, Sudhirji, and the brigade of contributors led by our In-House Encyclopedia – Sri. Arunkumar Deshmukhji (whose personal score stands at 1823 at the time of writing this post). Having this many posts which give details about the films, artists, background of the particular song with accurate lyrics and accompanying video is no small feat. What began as Atulji’s effort to bring good songs onto the worldwide web (or cyberspace) with accurate lyrics has turned into a library/ a reference point for seekers.
Congratulations once again to the blog & atulites and I feel great that I am a part of it.

Today’s song is a part of my growing up. Hearing it makes me very nostalgic and takes me back to 1981, the year I passed out of my undergrad degree and had joined the queue to land a good job. I eventually got a fantastic job as a Medical Rep for the #1 Pharma company in India – Glaxo Ltd (now GSK Ltd). Our in house encyclopaedia Arunkumar Ji has also spent a considerable amount of time in Glaxo and can vouch for my saying that it was a proud feeling, always.
Now coming to today’s song, “Tujhsa Haseen Dekha Na Kahin” is sung by Kishore Kumar, written by Gulshan Bawra and composed by Rahul Dev Burman. It is from the 1981 film “Harjaee”.

Pancham’s Music – Eighties-to-Nineties (1981-1994…) Duets-12
Today’s duet composition by Rahul Dev Burman is from the 1996 movie ‘Ghatak’ or ‘Ghaatak’. This movie was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi who also produced this movie for his home productions ‘Santoshi Productions, Bombay’. It was passed by the Censor Board on 01.11.1996.
In the last post under this series we had a song from the 1993 movie ‘Aaja Meri Jaan’. No movies with R D Burman’s music were released during 1994 and 1995. Though the movie ‘1942 A Love Story’ is mentioned as a movie of 1994, it was actually certified by the Censor Board on 31.12.1993. So it is obvious that it was released in the theatres in 1994. (However as per non-documented but strictly adhered 🙂 to SOP of this blog, we now need to correct the year of ‘1942-A Love Story’ as 1993 on this blog 🙂 ).
The cast of ‘Ghatak-1996’ included Sunny Deo, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Danny Dengzongpa, Tinu Anand, K.K. Raina, Anjan Shrivastava, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Mamta Kulkarni, Mukesh Rishi, Ila Arun, Viju Khote, Harish Patel, Brij Gopal and others. Music for this movie was composed by R.D Burman and Anu Malik. Since R.D Burman passed away during the making of the film, Anu Malik was roped in to record the remaining one song for this movie. This movie has five songs and total six sound tracks including a ‘theme music’ track composed by R.D Burman. Majrooh Sultanpuri wrote the songs for this movie. Playback singers for this movie are Suresh Wadkar, Sadhna Sargam, Alka Yagnik, Shankar Mahadevan, Anu Malik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, and Asha Bhonsle.

Pancham’s Music – Eighties-to-Nineties (1981-1994…) Duets-10
Today’s duet composition by Rahul Dev Burman is from the movie ‘Khule-Aam-1992’. This movie was directed by Arun Dutt for ‘Guru Dutt Films, Bombay’. It was produced by Tarun Dutt and Arun Dutt. The cast of this movie has Dharmendra, Shammi Kapoor, Chunky Pandey, Neelam, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Moushumi Chatterjee, Danny Denzongpa, Iftekhar, Satyen Kappu, Jagdish Raj, Viju Khote, Brahmachari, Shaikh, Alok Sharad, Suhail, Ajeet Shrivastava, Malik, U.S. Tiwari, Rekha Parmar, Master Bunty, Baby Princy and others.
This movie Khule-Aam was passed by the Censor Board on 23.04.1992. I was staying at Kota (Rajasthan) at that time. I am not sure whether I watched this movie at that time. When I was looking for movies from the year 1992 with music by Rahul Dev Burman, I came across this movie. Since I was looking for a duet song I zeroed in on this song. Listening to this song came as a real pleasant surprise. The song sounds familiar to me whihc means I may have heard this song in the past.
‘Khule-Aam-1992’ has four songs all penned by lyricist Indeevar. The playback singers for this movie are Aziz, Sadhna Sargam, Gautam Roy, Asha Bhonsle, Sagarika and Gurpreet. Today’s song is sung by Sadhna Sargam and Gautam Roy. The song is picturised on Neelam and Chunky Pandey lip-syncing in the voices of Sadhna Sargam and Gautam Roy respectively.
This movie marks the debut for singer Gautam Roy in the blog. Audio of this movie was released by Weston. Let us listen to this wonderful magical Pancham composition and welcome ‘Khule-Aam -1992’ on this blog.
