Blog 10-Year Challenge (2012-2022) – Song No. 19
————————————————————————————–
February 2012 was a month that saw as many as 178 songs getting covered in the blog, at an average of over 6 songs a day. There were several days when even 8 and nine songs were covered in one day !
The date of 15 February 2012 was a sedate day in comparison. Only four songs were discussed on this date. Here are their details:-
| Blog Post number | Song | Movie (Year) | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5458 | Ek teer chala dil pe laga | Mahal(1949) | Movie YIPPEED by now |
| 5449 | Wo dekhen to unki inaayat | Funtoosh(1956) | Movie YIPPEED by now |
| 5460 | Ye kya jagah hai doston | Umrao Jaan(1981) | 7 songs covered out of 9 |
| 5461 | Yoon to milney ko ham miley hain bahut | Faasle(1985) | 3 songs covered out of 10 |
One can observe that two out of four movies whose songs were covered on this date ten years ago are already YIPPEED. That leaves us with only two movies whose songs can still be discussed today, ten years later, as part of “Blog Ten Year Challenge”.

Hullo Atuldom
6th February 2022. Sad day for lovers of music. The news which all music fans didn’t want to hear came through a friend’s message on Whatapp. Our dear Sur Saraswati – Nightingale – Miracle of Nature – Swar Kokila (all such epithets fell right and square on her slender shoulders) is no more. She was a power house of talent that came in a small package. She was the face of Indian film music who rode the classical music vehicle with as much ease as light music. Bhajans rendered by her were what the nation woke up to for years and were the inspiration for singers of the later generation to try their hand at classical and devotional songs.

Lata Mangeshkar – 1929-2022
A lifetime of music passed by, and then today morning, that voice of the century descended into the forever sleep, from where no one returns.
