The film that we are bringing to the Yippeee-land today, has been waiting for the final song for the last almost three years. The 1970 film ‘Maa Ka Aanchal’ had made its debut on the blog on 10th May, 2012. Exactly three years later, on 10th May, 2015, the fifth song of this film was posted. As I look at these dates, I am tempted to defer this posting to 10th May, just to complete a sequence. But then I thought better of it. 🙂

‘Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ (1971) is different from the serial ‘Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ which came a long time after the movie. The movie was an all-round entertainer. “Asen mi nasen mi. . . whether I’m there or not, I’ll be there forever.”
[Title of her biography, a quote by her own self, in a conversation with her biographer, Lalita Tamhane.]

She was just into 55th year when she passed away in 1991. Continuing to be active, even after having managed to get past an initial scare of cancer, the remission succeeded to claim her, much to the loss of the entire industry, and its heritage.

Remembering Nutan, on the anniversary of her passing away, today (21st February).

“Us Raat Ke Baad”(1970) was a “social” movie. Information contained in HFGK about this movie is incomplete.

Luckily the print of this movie is available online. Watching it, one finds that the movie was produced and directed by Y B Siraj for 51 Cine Commercial corporation, Bombay. The movie had Sanjeev Kumar, Tanuja, Sailesh Kumar, Shaminder, Kishore Bhat (introducing), Aruna Irani, Madan Puri, Tarun Bose, Bela Bose, Asit Sen, Pravin Paul, Sundar, Amrit Patel, Dinesh Hingoo, Masterji etc in it.

HFGK mentions four songs in the movie and leaves blanks indicating that the movie had additional songs in it. On watching the movie, it is seen that the movie had a fifth song as well which is the movie opening song cum movie closing song. So the movie had five songs in all.

dekh hamen awaaz na dena
o bedard zamaane. . .

The whirl of the merry go round does never stop, but comes a day that one cannot hold on – and then what remains is the nausea, the vertigo of having stepped off a speedy whirlwind.
