Coming into the 5th episode of the repeat song series. Here is an example of a straight and simple reuse, as is. The film is ‘Raja Kaka’ from 1973. And the famous drunkard song by Mukesh – from the 1960 film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’, has been re-used in this film, without any changes or re-recording. As we listen to this picturization, it is clearly the original song that is simply being replayed in this film.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
“Dil Ka Nazraana Le O Dildaar Le” – this was the debut post of the 1973 movie “Chalaak” which was directed by someone called RK Banerjee. All these years I had only heard this song. Thanks to the ongoing ten-year challenge series I landed on the post of the song which had been popular in the 70s and is still heard on Vividh Bharti (All India Radio), I learnt that it was a Kiran Kumar – Radha Saluja song, which movie etc.
I landed on that post because of this “Mann Gaaye Wo Taraana“. Now this is another song that was popular on the radio in those days and is still heard sometimes on radio. I learnt that this is a piano song with Alka at the piano and Kiran Kumar in a jeep.

Wonder pe Thunder !
Today’s song is from film ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ (1971). When I found that this very popular and famous song of the early 70s was yet to be covered in the blog, my first reaction was to disbelieve it. I was almost sure that there was some mistake. I scanned the entire ‘H’ alphabet film list, bur could not see this song under any heading. Then I checked the year wise and MD wise lists – with same result. I was wondering how this song has escaped from the keen eyes of our contributors, who are specialists in the songs of the 70s ! At the end of it, I even checked with Atul ji, who confirmed that the song, indeed, was yet to be covered by us. This was a bonanza for me.

Today’s song is truly a rare song. It is from a film called Romantic India-1936. It was a C grade costume film, directed by veteran Mohan Sinha. Looking at the film’s cast of Jeevan, Shyamsunder, Noorjehan, Radharani, Pt. Badri pershad, Gulab etc etc., it is confirmed that it was one of those C grade films which had its own audience in almost every village, town and city in India.

Today 27th June (27th June, 1939 – 4th Jan, 1994) is the 79th birth anniversary of Rahul Dev Burman, whom we fondly remember as ‘Pancham’.
On this occasion here is a song from the 1985 Movie ‘Sitamgar’. Th film was directed by Raj N Sippy for Bikramjeet Films International, Bombay and produced by Bikram Singh Dehal. It had Dharmendra, Parveen Babi, Rishi Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, Dr. Shreeram Lagoo, Prem Chopra, Jagdish Raj, Gurbachan, Ranvir Raj, Azad, Tilak Mehta, Raj Kaul, Shamsuddin, Nath Kamle, Ved Akash, Ashok Gaekwad, Master Alankar and Baby Geeta. Hullo Atuldom
The song with this post is a Peevesie discovery. I don’t remember when exactly, but definitely a few years back she mentioned about this song to me. And it looks like she has seen and enjoyed the video too and it has stayed in her memory. She remembered exactly how the song starts. And the dance steps of Govinda and Madhuri. Awesome combination. Just like in the previous Madhuri Dixit song where with Prabhu Deva as her co-dancer, here too, she is excellent. She is in a different orbit when she has a dancer for a co-actor. In “Que serasera” she matched Prabhu Deva step for step, here it is a typically Govinda dance that is a treat.
