Today’s song is from a film of the First decade of Talkie films in India. After the advent of the Talkie films in India, with Imperial’s ” Alam Ara”, many strong filmmakers from the silent era jumped into the field of making Talkie films. Initially only Bombay and Calcutta were the two filmmaking centres, but soon, Kolhapur,Lahore, Madras and a few other places began making Talkie films.

Today’s song is not only from an unknown and very obscure film, it is also a 84 year old film and the song too is that old. May be that is the reason why even its Lyricist, the Music Director, the Heroine and most of the cast members are all unknown. Maybe because it was made in Lahore, the local actors must have been taken in and so they are not much known or heard about. This is precisely the reason why I chose a song from this film. This gives me an opportunity to dig up information from various new sources, which may not be so common and available to most people. Even otherwise very few people take so much effort to get desired information. It took me several days to gather information about the MD, the Lyricist and the Heroine, but I am glad that at the end I have something to offer to our readers, which may be rare and difficult to find.

Today’s song is from an obscure film-Paaro-1947. It was made by Navyug Film co. One of the partners of this film company was Marathi’s famous writer, novelist and journalist Acharya Atre. By coincidence, the name of the Music Director of film Paaro-47 was Rasheed Atre. He, of course, was Muslim and Acharya Atre was a Hindu Bramhin.

“Bond 303” (1985) was produced B.C. Devra and directed by Ravi Tandon. It was one of those movies that was in the making for a long time.

It was one of the three movies that had Jeetendra play a Spy- an Indian James Bond. His James Bond act began with his ‘mast bahaaron ka main aashiq’ in “Farz” (1967) continued with “Raksha” (1981) {in both these movies Jeetendra was Agent 116}. “Bond 303” was the third in that list.

Today’s song is from film Pehla Pyar-1947. Pehla pyar means First Love. Pehla is Pehla. I could never understand why it has to be called Pehla Pehla Pyar (1958 & 1994). Does it not make it Doosra Pyar ?
