Sadhana was one of the biggest female star of her time in 1960s. But her aura was all but gone by late 1960s and 1970s. There were several reasons for that including the fact that she fell ill at the prime of her career that kept her out of movies in late 1960s. By the time she recovered and tried to make a comeback, the Hindi movie world had moved on and the new generation of movie goers had their own stars among the newer crop of female actors.

Today (30 august) is the birth anniversary of Shailenedra (30 august 1923- 14 deceember 1966). It is unimaginable but true that Shailendra lived to an age of only 43 ! The body of work that he had built up by that time was so imposing that he was already a legend by that time.

Today (29 august) is the birthday of Leena Chandawarkar. Yesterday (28 august) was the birthday of Anil Dhawan. A few days back, my wife lamented that our daughter takes her for granted and does not take her suggestions seriously(mujhe ghar ki murgi samajhti hai). What is new about it, I thought to myself, because my wife too takes me for granted. :). And in turn, both of us often underestimate our daughter. The three of us take our pets for granted and the pets return the favour by taking us for granted. 🙂
