Just saw the response from Peevesie’s Mom for the song Ital ke ghal mein teetal) from “Bahuraani” (1963) . And I remembered, the film Jyoti (1981) is almost a frame to frame remake of the film Bahurani (1963), with Jeetendra playing the role played by Guru Dutt, Hema Malini that of Mala Sinha, Vijendra Ghatge that of Feroze Khan, Shashikala that of Lalita Pawar, Ashok Kumar that of Nazir Hussain, and Deven Verma that of Mukri.

“Kinaara”(1977) is a movie which was produced by Pranlal Mehta and directed by Gulzar. Gulzar in fact also wrote the script of this movie as well as the lyrics of its songs. “Kinaara” (1977) was one of the few movies that was well recieved by the masses as well as the media. This movie had Jeetendra, Hema Malini, Dharmendra, Shrreram Laagoo, Dina Pathak etc in this movie.

It is the day of Raakhi festival (Raksha bandhan) today and we saw in one song that a man was lamenting the fact that he did not have a sister of his own. But it is not necessary for a man to have a real sister of his own for the purpose of rakhi. Indian mythology is full of tales of unrelated men being sent rakhi by women and they fougtht to protect the honour of their rakhi sisters. Hindi movies too show girls tie rakhi on the wrists of strangers and they prove to be more loyal that their real brother.

I have listened to the audio of this song many a times, and this song never fails to cheer me up. This is indeed a “feel good” song.
This song is from the movie “Jeene Ki Raah”(1969) and seeing that the title figues in the lyrics, the son can be called the title song as well as the theme song of this movie as well. This song is a get together song on the occasion of silver jubilee of a mill, where Jeetendra sings this song in the gathering. Yes this song wears so many hats !

From 1970 onwards, we saw many examples of star sons being launched in Hindi movies by their parents with movies tailormade for them. Thus we had Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor launched by Raj Kapoor, Kumar Gaurav launched by Rajendra Kumar, Sanjay Dutt by Sunil Dutt, Sunny Deol by Dharmendra etc etc.
