Now this gets cosmopolitically interesting. She is from a Keralite family that settled in Mumbai about a century ago; herself she is born and brought up in Mumbai, got married to a gentleman from Tamilnadu (I think he won’t mind if we call him Peevesie’s Dad), and currently settled in Bangalore. (Maybe she can head a movement for national integration). Interestingly, today she is back in her hometown – Cochin, as this write up gets published. But that is just for a short weekend vacation, she assures me.

Not being a speaker of Hindi, I know that I miss a great deal of nuance in both song and storyline in not understanding the lyrics to Hindi film songs. I am sure that is the case here too, but all the same the picturization of this song is so packed with information that for once I don’t really feel that deprived. His trademark lack of subtlety is one of Manmohan Desai’s greatest gifts to non-Indian fans of Hindi cinema, as is his trademark lunacy to all of mankind. An abundance of both mark this song as one of my favorites.

So, the countdown has already begun and now it’s time to celebrate one of the biggest milestone of this blog….10K songs. How appropriate it is to celebrate this special moment on it’s sixth b’day!! Celebration posts by many of you have already been posted on the blog and as all of you have said, I had also received Sudhirji’s request to send a special post to Atulji. Due to a family emergency, my post has been delayed and I apologize to Atulji for that. I fondly remember my radio playing this song during the afternoons of my summer vacations (in our old rented house, and in the morning Radio farmaish programmes and during the late night, 11`clock Mumbai Vividh bharati programme “Bela ke phool”. This song belongs to my growing years; therefore I do have many fond memories of this song . Though it was not that badly picturised, the listening pleasure is more than that of watching it. If one hears this duet, in my personal opinion, it does have soothing effect on listeners.

Pradeep Raghunathan discovered the blog on 11 march 2011 and he found himself instantly hooked to the blog. He began to spend considerable time on the blog. In the process he had a great deal of interaction with me, mostly on gmail, including its chatting. We have interacted online more than a hundred times , and two of these interaction sessions lasted over two hours each.

Asha-ji had released an album of her songs as a tribute to MD Jaidev, where she gave number of songs that ware recorded but never utilized or published. She also requested Amol Palekar to let her include some of the numbers from his unfinished films. I have no information and am in total dark about Amolkar Palekar’s unfinished film ‘Footpath’, from which today’s song is posted. I request some knowledgeable members like Arun-ji to shed some light to it. (Tamaso ma Jyotir gamaya)

It is with mixed emotions that I write this post.
No, it’s not quite what you’re thinking. Usually “mixed emotions” involve an element of happiness, tempered with sadness. Like parents sending their son or daughter abroad for higher studies. On one hand, they’re happy for their child’s future, on the other there’s an element of sadness that they will be separated by a considerable amount of distance and time.

A few days back I got a very personal email from our Sudhir Kapurji. This was a personal invite for contributing to the blog on the occasion of it reaching 10000 songs. At that time we were on song number 9720. Today before writing this when I visited the blog I see we are at song number 9750. So it is an alarm bell for slow pokes like me to send contributions to Atul at the earliest. Also when I saw the mail I had mentally decided that whatever I send till the D-Day of our blog should be happy and peppy songs. So here I am with my own version of an invitation song.
