A few days back I got a very personal email from our Sudhir Kapurji. This was a personal invite for contributing to the blog on the occasion of it reaching 10000 songs. At that time we were on song number 9720. Today before writing this when I visited the blog I see we are at song number 9750. So it is an alarm bell for slow pokes like me to send contributions to Atul at the earliest. Also when I saw the mail I had mentally decided that whatever I send till the D-Day of our blog should be happy and peppy songs. So here I am with my own version of an invitation song.

Today (23 april 2014) is the birth anniversary of S Janaki. I almost worship her voice, right from childhood.
She has the distinction of singing songs in 17 languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Tulu, English, Sanskrit, Bengali, Sinhalese, Konkani, Punjabi, Japanese, Baduga, German etc.

Ajit Verman is today’s (26 march 2014) 67 year old birthday boy (DOB 26 march 1947). I found from Wikipedia that he started his career as a musician for the likes of Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Pankaj Mullick and Salil Chaudhary etc in Kolkata. And also Shankar Jaikishan and Laxmi Pyare in Mumbai in the 70s.
