Long long ago, K L Saigal sahab had sung about a bungalow. “Ek Bangla Baney Nyaara“. In that song Saigal sahab fantasized about living in a bungalow with his family.
Four four decades, no other hindi song coveting a Bungalow came about. It was in 1977 that another Bungalow song came about. This time it is a lady who fantasises about living in a bungalow. Unlike Saigal sahab, she is not willing to share it with her kunba though. She wants to share it only with her balma who must be anaadi enough to agree to share his bungalow and gaadi with her. 🙂

Shashi Kapoor, after the success of “Chor Machaaye Shor”(1974) was in great demand among producers. Shashi Kapoor signed up indiscriminately to work in all the movie offers that came his way. He had nearly seventy films with him at one stage. Top actors those days gave “dates” to shoot with producers by “shifts”, Shashi Kapoor used to shoot by hours, that is how busy he was.
“Chakkar Pe Chakkar”(1977) was one of those seventy odd movies that Shashi Kapoor had signed up for in the wake of the success of “Chor Machaaye Shor”(1974).

The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Amjad Khan, Pran, Bindu, I S Johar, Jeevan, Farida Jalal, Iftekhar, Anwar Hussan, Jagdeep, Mukri, Satyen Kappu, Nana Palsikar, Mac Mohan, Achla Sachdev, Anju Mahendroo, Tabrez, Murad, Hercules, Keshav Rana, Dulari, Paro Devi, Reddy, Bismillah, Bishan Khanna, Nazir Kashmiri, Ghulam Hussain, Sandow, Tiwari, Kailash, Pardesi, Akbar Khan, Shetty, Sulochana, Fazlu, Gulam Sabir, Aziz, Rajni Gupta, Soni, Jani, Yogesh Chabra, Sanjana, Rishi, Amir Ali, Ramlal, Saleem, Babul etc in it.

Today, 25th of October 2017, is the thirty seventh ‘remembrance anniversary’ of the great ‘poet-lyricist’ Sahir Ludhianvi. He passed away this day in 1980 leaving behind the great legacy of his poems and leaving behind his immortal poetry which people are still enjoying, discussing, and even doing research on it and writing about his life and his poetry. And like me there will be many who will agree that Sahir and his poetry will be discussed as long as Hindi Cinema and HFM exists and his poetry will be discussed so long as humanity and human relations, emotions exists.
