It was in early may (5 may 2026 to be precise) when the blog reached its previous century (blog post number 20200). Today,we are still in the month of may 2026, and we find ourselves reaching next century (blog post number 20300). Two centuries in the same month ! It is like two full moon days in the same month. 🙂

It must be said that reaching two centuries in a month was fairly common for the blog, but the last time this feat was achieved was in February 2018. Prior to that it was achieved in March 2017 and January 2015. This was very common before that. There were as manty as 34 such occasions before 2015. The month of April 2013 was extra special. As many as three century posts were published that month (on 1 april, 14 april and 28 april)! Those were the days when we used to score centuries in 13 and 14 days. The fastest century in the blog is scored in 11 days (song post number 4600 on 9 september 2011).

25 days for a century at a rate of 4 songs a day is quite decent by our present rate of posting. Unlike in the past, most posts now a days are guest posts. It shows that the blog has now firmly become an online collaboration of likeminded music lovers.

#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #

(Birthday – Music Composer-Rajesh Roshan)

Today 24th May is the birthday of music director-lyricist Rajesh Roshan (born on 24.05.1955, some sources mentione the year as 1953). He is one of my favorite all time composer.

I had written about him in couple of my earlier posts on the blog. What I wrote about him in the past is worth repeating it on this occasion. During my school days, our cricket playing group used to meet every evening at the Colony recreation club. after going throught the news papers/magazines kept there, we would start discussing various topics. Hindi films and Songs were naturally a topic of common interest. Our favourite films and songs frequently got discussed there.

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #

The song in this post is going to give a big surprise to everyone. I am sure about that. Even I was surprised when I listened to it for this post. Though I have presented a song from this movie in the past but I was not aware about this song. After listening to this song it sounds familiar but I have no idea why.

This song is from an un-released movie ‘Bahaadur Jiskaa Naam’ from the decade of 1970s. As per information given in Hindi Film Geet Kosh Vol-IV (1971-1980) this movie was directed by K.A. Narayan for ‘Rangamma Films’. The cast of this movie is mentioned as Ashok Kumar, Pran, Prem Nath, I.S. Johar and Vidya Sinha. Geet Kosh lists four songs from this movie leaving space for other songs that would have been recorded for this movie but which are not known or may be these were not released on records.

#Bhoole-Bisre Geet #

(Lyricist Kavi Pradeep-63)

‘Hari Darshan-1972’ was directed by Chandrakant for ‘Joy Films, Bombay’. This mythological movie was passed by Censor Board on 24.08.1972. The star cast of this movie includes Randhawa, B. Saroja Devi, Abhi Bhattacharya, Shahu Modak, Asit Sen, Sujata, Kalpana Deewan, Padma Rani, Sanjana, Sadhna Khote, Sarla, Anwari, Rekha Chouhan, Babu Raje, Himmat Singh Chouhan, Ram Rasila, Satyajit, Jr. Mehmood, Baby Rupa, and others. And Dara Singh, Jayshree Gadkar, Arvind Trivedi in special appearance. This movie is mainly about Bhakt Prahlad and his devotion towards Lord Vishnu i.e. Hari. The movie also briefly covers the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

This movie had made its debut on this blog on 02.04.2015 when I had presented its’ song ‘suno re pyaare bhaai…’. This song being a nostalgic song from my childhood days was always in my memory and while sharing this song I had mentioned the following about the other popular songs from this movie that were in my memory from the radio listening days in my growing years.

‘Suno re pyaare bhaai ee, o o o o …’ … I am sure music lovers will easily remember the next lines of this song which are ‘prabhu ke bharose haanko gaadi’.

I remember, in my childhood days it was frequently heard on loud speakers during festivals and was also played regularly on radio.

In fact few more songs from this movie ‘Hari Darshan-1972’ were quite popular viz. ‘jai jai narayan narayan hari hari’, ‘maarne waala hai bhagwaan-bachaane waala hai bhagwaan’ and couple of them (including the song under discussion) feature in almost all compilations of devotional songs brought on cassettes/cds.

However, none of the songs from this movie made it to the annual list of Binaca Geetmala in that year or the next year in spite of having some good music. But, then those were the years when good music was coming from almost all composers and the competition was tough.

‘Hari Darshan-1972’ has tens songs that were written by Kavi Pradeep and composed by Kalyanji-Anandji. So far eight songs from this movie (including one triple version song) have already been posted on this blog earlier. Today I am presenting the ninth song from this movie which is yet another popular and frequently heard song of those days. This song, sung by Lata Mangeshkar, is liup synced by Master Satyajit who played Bhakt Prahlad in the movie. Asit Sen, Junior Mehmood and many others are also visible in the picturisation. Lyrics for this song were sent by our Prakashchandra long back.

Let us now listen to this song composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and penned by Kavi Pradeep.

#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
————————————————————————
(Lyricist Kavi Pradeep-62)
—————————–

Today’s Kavi Pradeep song is from the movie ‘Harishchandra Taramati-1963’. This movie had made its debut on the blog more than seventeen years ago on 10.02.2009. The first song from this movie to appear on the blog was a prayer song where in the kid (Master Babloo) in the movie is praying to God. This song is a nice-cute-heart touching song and poignant song as well, in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar. The song is ‘main ek nanhaa saa main ek chhotaa saa bachchaa hoon’.

After this first song, five more songs have been added to the tally of this movie making the total to six songs posted so far. Today’s song is the final song from this movie and with this song all the songs for this movie get covered on the blog.
