In the blog, Sudhir Jee sometimes describes me as Ranchiwala Gaanewaala.
I have spent the formative years of my life in Ranchi. But when I think about it now, I realise that the last time I visited Ranchi was in 1991 ! So it has been 28 years since I lost touch with Ranchi ! More than a quarter of a century !

In some cases, it is the voice – some people will impress you, attract you with their voice. Girish Karnad’s voice has one of the most relaxing sound quality that I have heard. And his presence, his demeanor, his being in a scene, on screen or on stage, always had the same expression of comfort and relaxation as his voice. Seeing him, listening to him, one could never imagine if this person could be moved to a hasty or an impatient action.
He passed away, the day before. The news said that he was 82. I was surprised, it couldn’t be. Over the years since I had first seen him live in a drama in Delhi – almost a millennium ago, and then through films and media images, he always seemed to be the same, never changing, nor ageing. Be it the memories and images from the 60s, 70s, or even recent. He always appeared to be the same.

“Dheere Dheere“ –
Dheere Dheere Machal Ae Dil-e-Beqaraar
Dheere Dheere Chal Chaand Gagan Mein
Dheere Se Jaana Bagiyan Mein O Bhanwra
Dheere Se Aa Ja Ri Ankhiyan Mein Nindiyaa Aa Ja Ri Aa Ja
Dheere Dheere Bol Koi Sun Na Le
Dheere Chal Dheere Chal O Bheegi Hawa
O More Sainya Ji Utrenge Paar Re Nadiyaa Dheere Baho
Pal Pal O Pal Samay Tu Dheere Dheere Chal
Then there are songs have the word in different context, like;
O Gaadi Waale Gaadi Dheere Haank Re
Man Re Tu Kaahe Na Dheer Dharay
And this category of songs cannot be thought of without the superbly melodious “Dheeme Dheeme Gaaun, Dheere Dheere Gaaun”.
All the above songs are already posted in the blog. I had actually planned to do a series on ‘dheere dheere’ songs. I also have plans for a few more such word based theme posts. But for all these themes I am finding only newer songs. So the series idea is dropped, will just be preparing random posts for which ever song appeals.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 31
——————————————————————————————
Aah, the heady days of a decade before. Posting six songs was quite the norm. On 11th May, the following films got represented on the blog.
|
Mashaal |
1950 |
| Hamraaz | 1967 |
| Aankhen | 1968 |
| Parichay | 1972 |
| Ghar | 1978 |
| Nikaah |
1982 |
Believe it or not, except for ‘Ghar’, all the remaining films made their debut on the blog that day. As I check the record of the films over the intervening years, five of the films have completed their tenure, and all their songs are now showcased here. Just one of these films has not yet been yippeee’d. And that is ‘Nikaah’ from 1982.

Hullo Atuldom
We are now into the 15000s. Atulji and his bandwagon have taken a fresh Guard (cricket language) as Sunny Gavaskar used to say when he began his stint as a commentator. He used to say that after every 50,100, 150, 200 etc. it is advisable for the batsman to take a fresh guard as it helps in restoring focus on the goal or job at hand. We at ASAD, never loose our focus, posting songs with regularity of at least one per day; explaining the name of the blog. It is another matter that ASAD is almost never one-song-a-day, it has been minimum 4-5 songs a day for some years and at times going to about 13 songs in a day.
